A challenging recent project from a photo taken c. 1905 with substantial surface damage and large parts of the photo completely missing. The client believed the photo to be lost for good, irretrievable. The history of their family has been retrieved and the photo something like what the original was 125 years ago.

Portrait of Major General George A. Custer taken by famed Civil War photographer Mathew Brady at his Washington studio, almost 150 years ago in 1874. Just two short years before Custer met his demise at the Battle of the Little Big Horn at the age of 36.

Some recent projects confirm that just about any photograph can be restored to almost its original condition. Decades of fading, chemical deterioration, surface rips and scratches, and even major cracks can all be restored to recreate the magic of the original image.

Captain my Captain

Hobey Baker, Captain of Princeton University Football Team 1913

Considered one of the greatest athletes of his era, he won two national collegiate hockey championships and one national football championship. He is the only person named to both the collegiate hockey and football halls of fame. Immortalised now by the naming of the award for the best player in men’s collegiate hockey.

A First World War fighter ace he was tragically killed just one month after the end of the war when a plane he was testing prior to his return to the USA tragically suffered an engine failure and crashed. His orders to return home were found in his pocket.
