Weโ€™re seeing a lot of Facebook posts asking โ€œWhere is the fire?โ€ with the start of fire season and prescribed burning underway across WA.

Did you know you can check prescribed burns and burn-offs yourself on EmergencyWA?

๐Ÿ”Ž Hereโ€™s how:

1๏ธโƒฃ Go to EmergencyWA
2๏ธโƒฃ Select โ€œWarnings and incidentsโ€
3๏ธโƒฃ Click โ€œFiltersโ€
4๏ธโƒฃ Under incidents, select โ€œPrescribed Burns/Burn Offsโ€
5๏ธโƒฃ You can then view them on the map or list, including their location.

๐Ÿ“ Tip: Check the map around your local area to see if there are any planned burns nearby.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Remember: Not all smoke will be from a prescribed burn. If you see a fire and canโ€™t confirm what it is, or you believe it may be out of control, donโ€™t assume itโ€™s a burn-off โ€” call 000.

The Shire of Northam enters the Restricted Burning Period at 12:01am, 1st of October 2026.

Burning may only be undertaken with a valid permit, and/or under strict conditions.

Information on burning permits including how to apply can be found at northam.wa.gov.au/permit

Before you call 000 to report a fire, please check the Emergency WA website for the up to date list of burn offs in your area. emergencywa.wa.gov.au

Your compliance with this important risk management process is greatly appreciated.

๐Ÿ’œ BRIGADE NOTICE: A VERY SERIOUS PPE SITUATION ๐Ÿ’œ

With the Fremantle Dockers โš“๏ธ making it to the AFL Grand Final, weโ€™ve decided itโ€™s only right that our PPE gets into the spirit of the occasionโ€ฆ

So, for a very limited time, you may notice a little more purple around the station! ๐Ÿ’œ

But before anyone gets too excited:

๐Ÿš’ The trucks are still white.
๐Ÿ“Ÿ BART is still on.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Our training is still serious.
๐Ÿšจ And yes โ€” we will STILL attend call-outs!

No matter what happens on Grand Final day, our commitment to our community remains unchanged.

Weโ€™ll be ready to respond when BART goes off โ€” even if weโ€™re secretly hoping the next call comes through after the final siren. ๐Ÿ˜‚

With the Spring Restricted burning period set to begin on 1 October, the Shire of Northam is now accepting Permit to Burn applications.

No burning can be undertaken when the Fire Danger Rating is โ€œHIGHโ€ or above.

During the Spring Restricted burning period, properties over 2000m2 may burn small 1m3 of garden refuse (dry leaves, small branches, off cuts etc) in a single pile at a time between hours of 6pm and 11pm as per the Bush Fire Act 1954 Section 24F. All other burning requires an approved permit.

Remembering 9/11

The Bakers Hill Volunteer Bushfire Brigade solemnly remembers those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

We particularly honour the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and emergency responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.

We remember their courage, dedication and selflessness, and extend our deepest respects to their families and loved ones.

Lest we forget. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
