A recent review explores what’s changed in practice, including improvements in ID checks, age verification, and delivery compliance. However, it also highlights a key ongoing challenge: assessing intoxication at the doorstep, where delivery drivers have limited time and context to make responsible service decisions.

One finding that stands out—40% of consumers reported receiving an alcohol delivery while intoxicated, raising important questions for both industry and regulators about how effectively current safeguards are operating.

As demand for home delivery continues to grow, the conversation is shifting from whether reform is needed to how well it’s working in reality.
