🍷 Calling All Chardonnay Lovers!
If you're anything like me, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good Chardonnay.

For more than 30 years I've been making our traditional Reserve Chardonnay — rich, creamy and beautifully balanced. Since around 2000, I've also been producing our Foundation Chardonnay, an unwooded style that's become a big favourite with visitors to Bungawarra.

Both w**es are made from fruit grown right here on our vineyard in Ballandean, and both showcase the distinctive character of our Granite Belt site.

To celebrate two very different expressions of Chardonnay, I've put together a special mixed six-pack:

2021 Reserve Chardonnay - $33

Premium fruit selected from our oldest Chardonnay vines, fermented in medium toast, French oak barrels to give a creamy, complex w**e. Citrus & melon aromas & flavours are beautifully balanced by delicate toasted coconut characters from the oak.
This w**e goes through two fermentation processes (primary and malolactic fermentation) in French oak Puncheons (a larger size barrel, around 480L). Malolactic fermentation is a bacterial fermentation that converts the more harsh Malic Acid into the creamy feel of Lactic Acid. Alongside this secondary fermentation, the lees are stirred daily to promote yeast cell autolysis (as mentioned in last week’s post), culminating in a rich and buttery Chardonnay that feels like home.
