Do you ever wish you could make a little more space in your body?

That feeling of being compressed, tight or restricted can be exhausting.

Sometimes you just want to feel as though your shoulders can settle, your hips can move, or your back can stop demanding so much of your attention.

One of my favourite parts of bodywork is incorporating gentle traction and supported stretching.

Traction involves applying a carefully controlled pulling force to a body region. Depending on the technique and area treated, it can create a sense of unloading, ease or space.

I combine these techniques with breathwork, massage and guided movement to explore what feels helpful for each individual.

There is no forcing, no competition with your flexibility and no expectation that your body should move like somebody else's.

Just thoughtful, responsive bodywork designed around you.

If you've been feeling physically restricted, let's explore what your body might respond well to.

You know that feeling when you want to stretch, but you're already tired, stiff, uncomfortable, or don't seem to have enough hands of your own?

Or when you try to stretch yourself, only to find that you can't quite get into the position you need?

One of the things I love about my bodywork is being able to facilitate the movement for you.

Using techniques inspired by Thai stretching, muscle energy techniques (MET), PNF and gentle traction, I guide and support your body through selected movements while you relax and give me feedback.

No need to hold a difficult position yourself. No need to push through discomfort. Just a collaborative process, adapted to your body on the day.

Combined with massage, this can help improve range of motion and provide a welcome opportunity to experience movement differently.

Sometimes, having someone skilled and attentive support your movement makes all the difference to the experience.

Your body doesn't always need more effort. Sometimes it needs the right support.

Ask me about incorporating assisted stretching into your next Neuro-Balance bodywork session.

Take something useful home with you!

I love the hands-on part of my work.

But I also love helping people understand their bodies a little better.

Why might tension return? How do breathing patterns affect how we feel? What can we notice about our movement, our stress and the way we respond to everyday demands?

These are questions worth exploring.

A bodywork session can be a valuable opportunity to pause and attend to your physical needs. And when it suits the person, we can also explore simple practices that may help them manage stress and develop greater awareness outside the clinic.

That might mean learning a breathing exercise, practicing a drill, noticing an unhelpful movement habit or finding a more comfortable way to approach a daily activity.

Not another complicated routine to squeeze into an already busy life.

Just practical ideas that fit your circumstances.

This is one of the things that connects my bodywork with the broader Neuro-Balance approach: supporting people not only during a session, but in developing skills and understanding they can draw on in everyday life.

Good care can begin on the treatment table or mat and continue long after you leave it. Many of my clients report that even if I haven't seen them for awhile, they continue to practice and benefit from the things they've learned.

If you're curious about bodywork or want to learn more about Neuro-Balance, send me a message and tell me what you'd like support with.

Presence and connection...
I mentioned before, the amazing reactions I've been getting from people at the end of their sessions. First time round in the clinic, I got a lot of good results for pain and mobility, but the reactions weren't the same. I think my skillset was still pretty good but my ego and practice were in a very different place, which was limiting.
Before you arrive in the clinic, I head out a little early to make sure the space is ready to go, and then I practice some of what I preach to regulate myself. That way, when I am guiding you in a meditation or breathwork session, or working with you with some bodywork, I am able to stay more present.
I am noticing that the more present I am with myself in each moment, the more we seem to connect and can co-regulate regulate each other, and a beautiful calmness seems to emerge as our nervous systems silently dance with each other.
That's what I think has been happening anyway.
Have a beautiful day!

When stress shows up in your body

You might arrive carrying the weight of a difficult morning.

Your shoulders feel tight. Your jaw is clenched. Your mind is still racing through everything that needs to be done.

And then, for a little while, you have the opportunity to stop.

To breathe.

To notice how you're feeling.

To receive attentive, respectful bodywork without having to organise, solve or manage anything else.

One of the things I value about this work is that people sometimes describe leaving feeling lighter, not just physically, but mentally as well.

Stress and physical discomfort can influence one another, although the relationship is different for everyone.

This is part of why I developed my broader Neuro-Balance approach: to explore the person behind the symptoms, rather than viewing the body and the mind as completely separate.

My work brings together bodywork, applied neurology, breathwork and somatic awareness, according to the needs and goals of each individual.

You don't always need to do more. Sometimes it helps to create space to notice what is happening and explore what might support you.

If your body has been carrying a lot lately, you're welcome to get in touch.
