Long before Graphcad existed, our Founder & Director Chris Hammond was just a kid tracing letterform from an old Letraset font book — purely because he loved the shapes of the letters. By 15, all he wanted for his birthday was a set of Rotring pens and stencils.

Then came the tech bug: an Apple IIe at home, AutoCAD 9 for DOS in 1989, and countless nights teaching himself the software from scratch. When AutoCAD made the jump to Windows, Chris says it felt "like stepping out of a Commodore and into a Porsche."

That mix of hands-on craft and a love of new technology carried him through architecture, engineering, and design — until 1994, when he brought it all together and founded Graphcad.

30+ years on, we're proud to still be a team driven by that same curiosity.
