Recently, the team at First Aid Training Group had the opportunity to put one of our clients through their paces with hands-on fire suppression training.

The training included using fire extinguishers on live fire props, experiencing firsthand what a flashover looks and feels like, and putting newly learnt skills into practice by making entry into a smoke-filled building to locate and rescue casualties while extinguishing fires. The group also completed training involving vehicle fires and flammable gases.

All training was tailored to align with the requirements of their specific worksite, giving participants practical, real-world experience in a controlled environment.

A great day of learning, teamwork, and building confidence in high-pressure situations.

It’s amazing to see where a box of first aid supplies from Ballarat can end up.

Last year we donated a large amount of first aid supplies to The Cambodian Initiative , who personally delivered them to an animal sanctuary in Cambodia.

To know these items are helping care for injured and vulnerable animals means a lot to us. Thank you to the team for the work they do, and to our community for supporting local businesses that allow us to give back where we can.

We’re proud to be supporting the cause again this year. If anyone would also like to contribute, we’re happy to collect donated first aid supplies here in Ballarat, or you can reach out directly to The Cambodian Initiative to support the amazing work they do.

Stories like this are a reminder that cardiac arrests don’t just happen in hospitals or to “other people.” They can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Knowing CPR and basic first aid can make all the difference while waiting for emergency services to arrive. You never know when those skills could help save a life, whether it’s a family member, friend, teammate, coworker or even a stranger out in the community.

We are thinking of Karl, his family and everyone involved. What an incredibly frightening experience for all involved, and a powerful reminder of just how important these skills are.

Today is World Asthma Day 🌬️
Asthma management has changed, and it’s important we stay up to date.

Using a blue reliever (SABA) alone is no longer considered enough to effectively manage asthma. The latest guidelines now focus on less SABA, more AIR, supporting better long-term control and helping people breathe better.

If you or someone you know has asthma, make sure your action plan is current and speak with a healthcare professional if you’re unsure.

Fun fact: our first aid van had a previous life.
Before joining our team, it actually appeared on Neighbours.

We recently found a clip of it in action - safe to say it’s come a long way since its TV debut!
