There comes a time in a working woman’s life

When she can no longer sit quietly

Allowing someone else to get all the credit

For her money saving ideas and efficient work.”

The essence of this is the reason that I decided to choose redundancy when my company was merging with another and I was not going to be the CFO.

I could already see signs that the person who was going to be my boss and the CFO knew less than me and was picking my brains.

Thanks to listening to my intuition, I felt that he (yes, a he. Shock shock!!) would be the sort of boss that would take all the glory and no responsibility when things did not go so well.

I’d been there way too many times beforehand.

Too many times, I allowed this to continue.

Too many times, I bit my tongue when I should not have.

One time I even had a former boss ask me to come and work for him again at a new company.

Then when I told him about my minimum salary for doing so, he had the audacity to tell me that I was being greedy and should be grateful that he was reaching out to me.

He had forgotten that I knew how he operated. I knew that he would be earning more than double what I was earning.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Then find your worth. When you know what you are worth, your value, you will no longer allow this to happen.

Always remember that when you have a low self-worth, no one will assist you to raise it.

That is always your responsibility.

Most people have no idea how to allow life to get in the way of their work.
Are you one of those people?
For far too long, I was.
Work came first, usually at the expense of my health and my relationships.

Then redundancy came my way and I was standing there looking in the mirror at a person who I did not particularly like.

Thankfully, Ray, a former friend and work colleague popped into my head and I knew that I was going to learn from his chosen pathway.

Ray was a senior manager at a theme park I worked at in the 90’s.

Most ofthe 400+ staff loved Ray and were shocked.......How could they make Ray redundant and keep sother senior managers who were not as good at their jobs?

I continued to stay in contact with Ray.

Unfortunately, Ray did not fare so well after his redundancy.

He was in his mid-50’s when he left and it appears that he may have had a belief that he was never going to find another job like the one he had left.

He struggled.

Even with his amazing wife and adult children around him, supporting him all the way, he was not able to love life as he had done when his was professionally successful.

To make ends meet he started dipping into his investments.

As they declined so did his health.

It appeared that for every step forward, he was dragged back ten.

It was loss after loss for Ray.

Eventually, Ray succumbed to cancer in his early 70’s.

A beautiful man who was taken way too early.

Though even after death, Ray continued to mentor me.

At the time of my redundancy, I thought of Ray and his struggles.
Determined to ensure that they did not become mine.

He had made work his life.

Yes, he had an amazing family and all the financial successes that come with a very successful career

Though he unnecessarily struggled, all because his identity came from his work.

Ray is one of the reasons why I do what I do.

Ray taught me to look for a better way when life throws you a curveball.

To make different choices going forward.

To find my true identity…………….

One that was not wrapped up in what you do for a living.

Are you living in all areas of your life?

How engaged are your employees? Are they involved in their work and enthusiastic about the workplace? Or are they uncaring, disruptive and absent?
Do you easily know the answer to this question?
Knowing your employee engagement is important because, based on over 50 years of employee engagement research, Gallup knows that engaged employees produce better business outcomes than other employees -- across industry, company size and nationality.
Both in good and bad economic times!
Gallup’s research has found that only 15% of employees worldwide and 35% in the U.S. fall in the "engaged" category.
Why has the “Engaged” category been so low for so long? Especially when you consider how many “Employee Engagement trainers and consultants” there are worldwide.
These stats suggest that its time to take a new approach, a new way of looking at ways to engage our employees………. And keep them that way.
Enjoy this fun little video. Turn up the volume. It provides three tips on how to start engaging your people.

Healing Takes Time.
This is one of the standard responses many people will say when loss comes to visit. Things along the lines of "Just give it time and all will be ok!"
Though this is also one of the most misunderstood cliches.

The reason I say this is because it is not the physical passing of time that heals, it is the time you take to deep dive into the loss that assists you to heal.

Loss comes in many forms. It comes with a gift. One that many people never take the time to unwrap. Mainly because they think that in 6 months, a year, 10 years’ time, they will be healed.

Will they be? Maybe. Maybe not.

Life becomes so much easier when you take the time to heal, now.
Reach out when you're ready to heal, as I love to assist people to heal from any kind of loss and create their better everyday life.

For the past 14 days I have been in hotel quaratine, at The Crowne Plaza, Surfers Paradise.

Today, the 22nd August I am going home. Eight weeks after my original planned return from a five day Sydney trip.

Please enjoy this little video of the views from room 2107.

Before flying to the Gold Coast on the 8th August, I asked my guides and passed loves, for an amazing room. One that had a view and a balcony, so I could get some sunshine and fresh air. They came through better than I could have ever imagined.

For 14 days, I have been looking at the ocean, the sun, the rainbows, the people on the street, the birds, the clouds, the moon, the GC ocean view (north and south and the expanhorizon. At endless possibilities. That is what a horizon represents to me.

Enjoy the pics.

Always remember that we have a choice and personal experience I will always choose to Look on the Brighter Side of Life............... Hmm reminds me of Monty Python.
