A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Thursday, 8 January 2026 for the Southern Riverina area. Hot and dry conditions are forecast across parts of the state, increasing the fire danger. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens.

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Friday 5 December, for the Southern Riverina, Northern Riverina, Lower Central West and Eastern Riverina areas, with forecasts of high and extreme fire danger. Warm, dry and windy conditions are also forecast across the rest of the state.

TOTAL FIRE BAN tomorrow 26/11 - Extreme fire danger

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Wednesday 26 November, for the following areas:

- Greater Sydney Region
- Illawarra/Shoalhaven
- Greater Hunter
- North Western
- Central Ranges
- Upper Central West Plains
- Lower Central West Plains
- Southern Slopes
- Northern Riverina
- Southern Riverina
- Eastern Riverina

Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across most of the state, with widespread areas of Extreme fire danger.

Catastrophic fire danger is also forecast for the Lower Central West Plains. These are the most dangerous conditions for a fire. For your survival, avoid being in bush and grass fire risk areas within this region tomorrow.

Before you burn:

The Bush Fire Danger Period officially ends at midnight tonight. Starting April 1st, you are no longer required to have a fire permit.

What this means:

Before:
🚫You no longer need a permit to burn for agricultural purposes.
βœ… You MUST continue to notify your planned burns to the NSW RFS 24 hours in advance.
βœ…You MUST continue to notify your neighbours 24 hours in advance

On the Day:
β›…Check weather conditions, e.g. Fire Danger Ratings, Wind and Temperature
πŸ”₯πŸ‘Ensure Fire Safety, e.g. Fire Breaks, and monitor conditions closely
πŸš’If the fire gets out of control, call Triple Zero (000)

After:
