The theme for IWD 2022 is ‘Break the Bias’. The goal of this year’s theme is to bring awareness to the fight against bias, stereotypes and discrimination and the journey towards equality and diversity.

The official UNESCO theme for WED 2022 is ‘Build Back Wiser - Engineering the Future’. The aim is to bring awareness to the need for resilience in engineering to achieve a more sustainable future.

Last week, Liza Taylor had the honour of launching the AIRAH Resilience Checklist at the Future of HVAC 2021 conference.

Global IQ Group are really proud to have played a role in bringing this initiative to life. Welcome to our first Wellness Wednesday!

Today our special guest Liz Bennett, experienced physiotherapist and founder of Balanced Practice Yoga, guided us through some great tips on how we can improve our mindfulness and wellbeing. A big thank you to Liz for teaching us how to refresh and energise our minds during the work week!

In light of the pandemic, WFH has become a way of life for millions of people worldwide. It is inspiring to see how many businesses have adapted to such unpredictable circumstances.

Now that working from home is the norm and no longer the exception, we've seen a major shift in the way people work. On the plus side, less travel and more family time. Today is R U OK Day.

There has been a lot of discussion over the past few years around the cost of mental health in the workplace, both financially and personally. The business case for supporting mental health in the workplace has been well and truly made. Of course, like many things, COVID-19 has turned things on its head and the impact on individuals has escalated during the ongoing lockdowns creating financial uncertainty, increasing isolation, and restricting access to exercise and other activities that help improve our mental health.

What a difference 5 years make!

We began our journey in 2016, at a time when we could freely travel the globe, attend conferences and shaking hands was socially acceptable. It was a time we certainly took for granted, we were optimistic for the future and blissfully unaware of the challenges ahead.

Reflecting on the past five years, it has been a true test of resilience, faith, and determination. They say we have these ‘crucible’ events that forever change our lives. The transformation from employee to entrepreneur is not a feat for the faint of heart. Especially when a worldwide pandemic hits you for six.

But despite this, I count us as one of the lucky ones.

We have been extremely blessed to work with amazing clients who are some of the most talented in their field. From net zero buildings, better indoor air quality to reducing plastic waste in our oceans, it has been an absolute privilege to be able to play our part in leaving a legacy for our kids and future generations.
