Don't forget to give these to any new casual employees.

Don't forget to give these to any new casual employees.

All casual employees must be given a copy of the Casual Employment Information Statement (CEIS) before, or as soon as possible after, they start a new job.

The CEIS includes info about conditions of employment for casuals like when they need to be offered part-time or full-time employment.

The CEIS is available in 38 languages. Download it from our website: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/employment-conditions/national-employment-standards/casual-employment-information-statement

Remember, employers have to give the Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS) to all new employees (full-time, part-time and casual) too.

E-invoicing is a new process of business-to-business (B2B) invoicing that has been mandated by the Australian Government for all businesses. An important inclusion in Compassionate Leave.

An important inclusion in Compassionate Leave.

Recently, compassionate leave was expanded to include miscarriage. So if you or your current spouse or de facto partner has a miscarriage, you’re entitled to 2 days compassionate leave.

You’re also entitled to 2 days of compassionate leave if a member of your immediate family or household suffers a life-threatening illness or injury or passes away: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/leave/compassionate-and-bereavement-leave

Compassionate leave is available to all employees. It doesn’t accrue and you get 2 days on each occasion it applies (there is no maximum number of times you can access it in a year).

It can be taken as a single period, 2 separate days, or in any periods that the employee and employer agree on.

Full-time and part-time employees get 2 days paid compassionate leave. For casuals, it’s unpaid.

Happy to travel far and wide for my clients. And detour through padocks if that's what it takes. Love my job. Thanks for the amazing service and flights up and back Flinders Island Aviation.

Reminder: by 27 September 2021, employers (other than small business employers) need to assess whether any existing casual employees (employed before 27 March 2021) are eligible to be offered to convert to permanent employment.

Your employer needs to:
• make a written offer to convert your casual employee to permanent employment (this must be done within 21 days after they make the assessment), or
• write to you explaining why they won’t be making an offer (this needs to be done within 21 days of making the assessment but by no later than 27 September 2021).

To accept an offer to convert, you need to respond to your employer in writing within 21 days after getting the offer. If you don’t respond, your employer can assume that you’ve declined the offer.
