FLASH BACK TO 1987
Bit of wet weather about so i will show you a flash back to 1987 to a job i worked on down at the Hinze Dam west of the Gold Coast.

A very interesting bit of work as a young 21 yo dozer operator.
Our dozer was a Komatsu D65E-8 and i had the job working with the Dobson Brothers that at the time were based at Caboolture.

Dobson's had the big contract to clear the backwaters of the Hinze Dam in 1987.
The clearing of the native bush was all of the back waters area during the wall construction of the second lift to the dam water level ,

All timber had to be gone with no timber left to float in a full dam.
The new level would be 90 feet higher than the original Dam spillway level from the original dam wall construction many years before.

My job was to help with the cleaning up and burning of the stacked timber and raking paddocks.
Some very steep country along the waters edges and the job had a side cut at the top and a side cut along the waters edge.
One wrong move and you could be in the water on some parts of it.
Its been a fond memory of mine and was a memorable experience working with a great bunch of fellas in the bush.

Filling in an old unused dam to give the customer a usable paddock again.
The job got rained out before it could be completely trimmed up but this can be done later with a pozi track or small machine and it has been.
Cant beet the rain all the time..lol..

Bit of an old Flash Back to around 1983.
I was just going to the racecourse Job at Caloundra young and keen on my D6C 69J and Dad was working local with our D7F 92E..
Where did all those Years go..

Clearing some Iron bark and blue gum and pine tree regrowth country near Woodford.
Levelling out some pads for a house and shed and horse training area.

Just a small job between Glasshouse and Beerwah clearing away some old Custard Apple trees and then level out the hills they were growing on.
This will be new pineapple ground now.

All cut where the building will be going.

Shifted a pineapple planter on the old Mack a few days ago.
Pineapple farming over the past 100 years has been a big part of our region.
Good to see younger farmers keeping the industry going.
