Graduate Diploma Cancelled Over Student Visa Misuse

The Australian Government has moved to stop new international student enrolments in the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) — the first use of new powers to cancel courses that undermine the integrity of the international education system.

The concern? The course was increasingly being used as a way to transfer courses and stay onshore, rather than for genuine study.

Here's what it means for you:

✅ Already enrolled? You're okay — existing students can complete the diploma.

🚫 New enrolments stopped — from 5 October 2026, providers and agents can no longer enrol new international students in this course (course code BSB80120). This applies to this course only, not graduate diplomas in general.

📊 Why the crackdown? Transfers into the course surged from around 510 students in 2020 to 4,000 in 2025.

Effective 1 July 2026, skilled visa income thresholds in Australia have increased

✅ Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): AUD $76,515 → $79,499
→ Applies to Skills in Demand (482) Core Stream & Employer Nomination Scheme (186)

✅ Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): AUD $141,210 → $146,717
→ Applies to Skills in Demand (482) Specialist Stream
