The Bendigo Sports Trainers Association strives to be a support avenue for all sporting trainers across Bendigo and the surrounding regions. This association not only provides an avenue for vital courses, workshops and forums but also helps to bond all sporting trainers together to share their knowledge, skills and experience. We also help provide information, education and support to interested c

ommunity members and students who want to become sports trainers. Further, we help new and experienced trainers find employment within sporting clubs and events and therefore assist clubs and organisations to fill first aid/sports trainers vacancies.

Change of plans: new course information.

After being informed by AFLCV that the first round of courses was fully booked and another one would not be offered we are surprised to announce that another round of courses has been offered.
We have since cancelled our course with Phoenix Sports First Aid to be able to focus as many people as possible to the subsidised AFLCV coordinated course. A huge thank you to David Griffiths and the team at Phoenix for understanding.

The new course details are:

“AFL CV together with AFL Victoria is pleased to share information on a partially subsidized Level 1 Sports Trainers Course available to Central Victorian Clubs ahead of the 2024 Season.

Where: La Trobe University, Bendigo – Ironbark Centre, Level 2
When: Sunday 24 March - 8:30am - 5:00pm
What: Level 1 Sports Trainer accreditation – more info on units involved here.
Cost: $99 per participant – remaining $200 to be subsidized by AFL Central Victoria and AFL Victoria.
Who: Delivered by Sports Medicine Australia

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]

To register: https://sma.org.au/safer-sport-courses/level-1-sports-trainer/

PLEASE NOTE: This course has a maximum of 25 people, and it will be filled on a first in best dressed basis.

AFL Central Victoria
Unfortunately this sports trainers course requires you to have a first aid and for certificate BEFORE you complete the course as it is a prerequisite. This will mean many people will still miss out on qualifying

Please contact us if this is you so we can discuss possible options.

Massive news! A must read and follow by all

“the updated Position Statement provides clear return to sport/learn timelines by extending the minimum stand down period for both youth (those under the age of 19 years) and community sport following an incidence of sport-related concussion. This conservative approach to concussion management requires the individual being 14 days symptom free (at rest) before returning to contact sport training, and a minimum of 21 days before returning to competitive contact.”

Concussion in Australian Sport brings together the most contemporary evidence-based information on concussion for athletes, parents, teachers, coaches and medical practitioners
