HOW SIMPLE IS YOUR BUSINESS STRATEGY ?
Steve Jobs who revolutionized the mobile industry by introducing a simple user interface had said, "Simplicity is one of my great mantras. Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there you can move mountains."

Truely, simplicity works well because we humans are lazy by nature. If something complex arises we try to escape, we never try to come out of our comfort zone to do little extra effort. We prefer things that are simple & convenient.

As an example, let's look at the organ donation rate of Belgium & Germany. Though they are neighbouring countries, in Belgium 90% of the population donate their organs whereas in Germany 90% of the population DO NOT donate their organs despite being similar in culture, lifestyle and sentiments.

What made such a huge difference ?

In germany, if you want to donate you have to fill up legal consent forms else you disagree to donate.

But in Belgium, if you DO NOT want to donate your organ, you have to fill up legal consent forms else automatically you agree to donate your organ.

So, in Belgium NOT FILLING forms implies YES so donation rate is so high whereas in germany NOT FILLING form implies NO so donation rate is very low.

Really, It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage & hard work to make complex things really simple & simplicity is what attracts most.

If you are travelling with a smartphone , it doesn't matter where you go, whether you are connected to the internet or not, all your activities are stored and sent to a database when mobile gets connected with wifi. Here is what google has stored about my movement during the last 4 weeks.

Well, we don't have to because we all are paying google with our information for the free services that we are using in our daily life. The old saying, “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch,” still holds true.

This is a topic to be aware of but it's not a bad thing. If you are concerned about privacy, better avoid smart things, avoid google and miss all unavoidable important services or LEARN to utilise and create your own fortune.

For business, data/information is the key for success. These data helps to target & retarget audiences, save budget on advertising, plan and create better strategies, predict perfectly, improve customer service and many more. This is a core substance for digital marketing. Traditionally, in physical business, one has to visit and present a product or service to a client which is expensive, frustrating and time consuming. Is a problem an opportunity in business ?

During the 1950s, Elvis Presley, the King of Rock 'n' Roll became a huge star. But he was not everyone’s favorite. In fact, some people HATED him so much that they were looking for ways to let everyone know they hated him.

Elvis and his manager saw an amazing opportunity in this hate sentiment. They started printing badges with messages like:
“I HATE ELVIS”
And they were selling like crazy. By the end of 1957, both the “I love you” and “I hate you” merchandise brought Elvis over $22 million. Isn't that crazy ?

Amazing opportunity is within the problem. You may not be Elvis. And you may not have passionate haters to profit from. But you can still use the same principle to start a new online business.

A TRUE STORY .....

One day at my workplace, a 65 years old employee who came to work as a kitchen hand requested an extra shift. I promised her that I will pass that message to management and being emotional I advised that kitchen is a busy place and requires hard physical work compared to other jobs and at this age this might not be the right job for your physique, why don't you look for an easy job like sales representative at clothing store.

She replied her previous job was at a news store and she was at the checkout counter but unfortunately that store introduced a digital ecosystem to operate that business and being unaware about computing she had technical operational issues everyday so she quit that job.

I felt really bad to hear that. Just a year before her retirement how could this happen ?

As the talk moved on, we both being asian origin, having similar lifestory our thoughts matched and became more open. And being a new generation dad, I asked what her past experience was in terms of raising the kids ?

Her response was a mind blowing tips to me. She said, "We Asians are too concerned about our kids' futures and are forced to do things according to our interest that's good but not all the time. Better let them learn from surrounding. Kids learn and have mental exercise when they see problems, people and places. Take them somewhere on their holidays. Look i had three kids, for my first child i did best what i can. I spent above $50K on his higher education but couldn't do that effort for my second & third kid. They are just a high school finisher. My elder son holds a respectable higher position at a big company and he is happy at his job and earning good amount but my second & third are more successful financially. They don't work for others, they own a successful business and enjoying their fortune, freedom & flexibility. To built committed career & make living people have to inspired from real life experiences. So, let them learn & decide what they want to be from their experiences. Have conversation everyday, offer mental support to solve their arised problems and inspire how they can afford to solve problems. They will learn Literacy at school so you don't have to worry."

After her response a bulb was switched ON in my mind and a few questions arose.

Q1> No matter how old we grow, we have to work either to kill loneliness, fulfill legal requirements or to make a living. Everyone can't do hard physical work forever. What easy job can we RIDE ON & be established to make nearly retirement funfull and luxurious ?

Q2> No matter how good we are at work, we or our working model can be replaced at any time. What can be our backup plan & HOW we can be up to date with the emerging new technologies to be compatible with what we love to do ?

Q3> In terms of earning, we don't have to hold a degree. We can make a far better lifestyle than that of a university graduate but HOW ? What are the available opportunities & best possible ways ?

There was a Bakery in a busy city. Due to inflation, the cost of producing bread rose leaving almost zero profit. The owner intends to raise the price of the bread to make some profit but he can't do so by himself because of laws imposed by the government. He then planned to meet the leader and proposed to raise the cost by $10.

The leader understood the scenario and advised the owner to raise the cost by $30. The owner was surprised on one side and happy on the other side because he got 3 times more than his demand.

The next day, the price of the bread was raised by $30. All consumers who visited the store were shocked and unhappy to pay the rising rate. They went for protest demanding to lower the price.

The next day, the police called the owner and took him for negotiation. There was political pressure to lower the price and in the meeting agenda, the leader advised the owner to reduce the price by $15 and an agreement was made. This was a win-win-win case as the price was above the owner's expectation and consumers were happy to pay the reduced price and the government was good to both parties.
