This time last week, the team were busy setting up the Intercept Australia stand at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference and Exhibition for 2026.

It takes a team to build a stand of this scale, and we’re so lucky to have the one we have! If you were able to get to the show we hope you got a lot out of it, we certainly did!

Material degradation within rubber and polymer components is often overlooked within long-term preservation planning.

Exposure to atmospheric pollutants including sulphur compounds, ozone, chlorides, and nitrous gases can contribute to deterioration across rubber, synthetic rubber, and polycarbonate materials used within defence environments.

Testing referenced within INTERCEPT Technology® preservation systems demonstrates how corrosive gases can impact common materials over time, particularly in enclosed or variable environmental conditions.

For defence organisations managing long-term storage, transport readiness, and equipment sustainment, preservation strategies increasingly need to consider the broader material system, not just exposed metal surfaces.

At IODS this week, we discussed integrated preservation approaches and more. Did you make it to the conference? If not, drop us a DM and let’s get talking about how we too can help your organisation with this and more.

Corrosion risk is not limited to exposed surfaces. Internal void spaces within equipment, enclosures, lockers, rescue systems, and electrical infrastructure can also create environments where corrosive gases accumulate over time.

Intercept Foam Protection is designed to help neutralise corrosive gases within enclosed environments, supporting preservation outcomes across defence storage and transport applications.

Its large surface area allows integration into existing packaging systems, containers, lockers, and enclosed infrastructure where moisture and airborne contaminants may contribute to degradation.

As defence organisations continue to prioritise lifecycle readiness and long-term asset performance, preservation inside enclosed spaces remains an important consideration.

These are some of the sustainment discussions we’ve been having this week at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference 2026. Visit us at Stand 1A08 today, the last day at IODS!

Day 2 is in full swing! Following a busy start to the conference yesterday, this morning has been even busier! We are thrilled with the chats were having, the awareness and need for INTERCEPT Technology is evident amongst the attendees.

Come by and let's have a chat about all things preservation and more.

Day one at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference and Exhibition 2026 is underway in Perth.

The team are on the ground connecting with industry, discussing preservation challenges, and showcasing how sustainable, reusable corrosion and ESD protection solutions can support long-term asset readiness across defence and critical infrastructure.

If you’re attending, come and see the team at Stand 1A08, we’d love to talk preservation, protection, and performance.

Rapid deployment environments require preservation systems that are lightweight, durable, and operationally practical.

Static Intercept® canvas preservation covers are designed for rapid deployment applications where defence assets may require environmental protection during storage, transport, or operational staging.

Features including corrosion protection, fire retardancy, all-weather performance, and reusable construction support defence logistics environments where equipment readiness and flexibility are critical.

Locally manufactured in Australia, these preservation systems are designed to support fast-moving operational requirements without reliance on oils or solvent-based materials.

Stop by the Intercept Australia booth at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference and Exhibition tomorrow, and let’s have a conversation about deployable preservation strategies and defence sustainment requirements. We'll be there all week!

We’ll be discussing reusable preservation systems and lifecycle-focused logistics strategies at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference 2026 next week.

Defence sustainment increasingly requires packaging systems that support reuse, repeatability, and long-term protection outcomes.

Static Intercept® thermoform trays and inserts are designed to provide reusable ESD and corrosion protection without oils or volatile solvents, supporting cleaner handling and storage environments for sensitive defence components.

Reusable packaging systems can also assist with reducing waste, simplifying logistics workflows, and improving handling consistency across storage and deployment operations.

Applications include armaments, munitions, GWEO components, and defence electronics where material stability and contamination control are important considerations.

Optical systems used within defence environments operate with extremely low tolerance for contamination.

Even microscopic particulate contamination can affect performance across optical fibres, targeting systems, surveillance equipment, and sensitive electronics.

Testing referenced by Nokia Bell Labs identified that charged optical fibres placed within conductive carbon-loaded packaging attracted particulate contamination from the packaging itself. The same testing conducted using Intercept packaging recorded no observable particle contamination on the optics.

For defence applications, non-off-gassing preservation materials and stable ESD performance are critical considerations for long-term storage and transport.

Join us at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference and Exhibition next week, we’ll be discussing this and much more.

Modern defence operations rely heavily on uninterrupted communication and electronic system integrity.

EMI/RFI shielding is not simply a compliance requirement, it is a protection measure that helps preserve signal reliability across critical systems during storage, transport, and operational deployment.

Intercept Australia’s RIBS™ MVTR shielding materials combine EMI/RFI shielding, moisture barrier protection, ESD control, and corrosion protection within a single preservation system.

Applications across defence environments include avionics, communications equipment, drones, weapons systems, and vehicle electronics where environmental exposure and electromagnetic interference can impact readiness.

These are the types of preservation and sustainment discussions Intercept Australia will be bringing to the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference and Exhibition 2026.
