Sarah Denholm Speaking Coach

Sarah Denholm Speaking Coach Public speaking and presentation skills training and coaching for speakers who want to become confident! I'm also a certified trainer, with my TAE40110 Cert.

I'm a public speaking and presentation skills coach and trainer. I run public and in-house workshops, coach individuals globally and in person, and speak to groups on these three fundamental speaking skills:

Building confidence
Engaging your audience
Influence
and persuasion

I use proven techniques from a wide range of research in:

the latest neuroscience on presentation and communication sk

ills
psychology
resilience
the performing arts
mindfulness practices

Through extensive research and successful client results, I've developed a clear framework and methodology to enable my clients to reach a whole new level of confidence, clarity and connectedness around their public speaking. My original training is in the performing arts as a Classical pianist. A successful career as a young musician, which included performing in the Purcell Room at Festival Hall London, was nearly ruined by performance fear which took hold in my mid twenties. My way back was through learning how to speak in public. (I still play the piano for fun!)

I have a Master's degree in Piano Performance. IV in Training and Assessment.

How do you persuade more effectively?

It’s not just about logic, structure and clarity. Our bodies play a role too.

Grounded cognition shows us how sensory, specific language, texture and even context cues can influence attention, emotion and memory.

Ever had a conversation where you knew your words were right… but somehow they didn’t land the way you intended?

It might not have been your words.

It might have been your tone.

Under pressure, our breathing, pace and vocal energy can change - sometimes before we even realise it.

So before your next challenging conversation, pause and ask:

Is my tone reflecting what I intend to communicate or how I’m feeling in the moment?

That small bit of awareness can make a big difference.

Feeling nervous before speaking? Try this instead.

You’ve probably heard: “Don’t tell yourself you’re nervous. Tell yourself you’re excited.”

But what if you’re genuinely not excited?

Don’t force it.

Try energetic instead.

Your system is activated for a reason. It’s giving you energy, sharpness and alertness to help you perform.

The goal isn’t to get rid of that energy. It’s to channel it.

Try reframing your nerves as energy, enthusiasm - or both - and see if it changes how you show up.

You don’t need to fake excitement. You need to work with what your body is already giving you.

Why I always take time to reset before teaching public speaking

Every new course brings a room full of people who want to learn greater confidence and engagement skills.

Before I can help them, I need to make sure I arrive feeling present, focused and energised. Especially as an introvert!

A few hours off in the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne is one of my favourite ways to do that.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿!🎉

As we arrive in 2026, I’m grateful to everyone who's trusted me to be part of their communication skills upgrade. It's been a pleasure, and a privilege (I mean it!). ✨

Wishing you a year filled with meaningful progress on what matters to you, and plenty of space to rest as well! Whether we’ve worked together (yet) or not, may this year bring all the possibilities you hope for. 🌱

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 💬

As the year wraps up, I’ve been reflecting on conversations with clients and the wider challenges we’re all navigating. It reminded me that being heard isn’t about sounding impressive or getting every word right. What matters is the tone, focus, and direction we set with our words.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. We all do it, even when we’re simply leading ourselves. It starts with presence, connection to the message, and staying engaged with others, especially when it feels uncomfortable ✨

🎄 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬!

I hope you'll get time off to do whatever nourishes and supports you. And to celebrate what's mattered during this year.

It's a time to give ourselves credit and kindness, stop to acknowledge how we've navigated challenges, and focus on what we've achieved. 👏 👏 👏

Before worrying about slides or delivery, take a few minutes to think. Get clear on your main message, the key points, what your audience needs, and where they might push back. Even 5–10 minutes of focused thinking can make your words more memorable and effective.
