Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre (BANC) is a not-for-profit community based organisation based in Blackheath, NSW.

Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre (BANC) is a not-for-profit community based organisation that is based in Blackheath and serves local communities, principally in the Upper Blue Mountains of NSW but also more broadly. We are located on Gardiners Crescent, underneath the Community Hall. BANC supports activities and services that enhance communities. We do this through the provision of programs that empower people to improve the quality of their life and realise their potential. We seek to be inclusive, help people connect, and build community resilience. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter and listen to the Blackheath Show on Radio Blue Mountains every Thursday at 10:00am. BANC acknowledges the Darug and the Gundungurra Nations as the traditional custodians of this land.

Got a group idea? We’d love to hear it! 💛

BANC is looking for local people who might like to start a new social or support group, or bring an existing group under the BANC umbrella.

It could be just about anything: craft, art, sewing, languages, games, cards, hobbies, discussion, peer support… if it helps people connect, there’s a good chance we’d be interested in talking about it.

We will help with things like space, promotion, finding other interested locals, and getting a new group established. And if you already have a group running, you can still keep doing things in the way that works for you while having a bit of extra support behind you.

We have space at the Neighbourhood Centre for groups of up to around 14 people, but groups that already have their own venue are very welcome too.

So if you’ve had one of those “someone should really start a…” ideas floating around in your head, maybe you’re the someone. 😄

📞 Hamish on 4787 7770 – menu option 5

Please feel free to share this with anyone who might have an idea!

🧶💜 A warm welcome to the Blackheath Knitwits! 💜🧶

We're very happy to share that the Blackheath Knitwits, a much-loved and long-standing local knitting and crochet social group, are coming in under the BANC umbrella!

The Knitwits get together every Tuesday for a bit of knitting, crocheting, chatting and good company, all while doing something lovely for others.

The group makes knitted and crocheted squares that are turned into rugs for Wrap With Love Inc, a volunteer-run charity providing warmth to people in need around the world.

You don't need to be an expert to join in. Whether you've been knitting for decades, or just are wanting to learn, everyone is welcome!

🧶 When: Tuesdays, 2pm–4pm
📍 Where: The Lounge at the Gardners Inn, 255 Great Western Highway, Blackheath

Donations of wool are also very welcome! These can be dropped off at BANC, 41 Gardiner Crescent, Blackheath.

For more information, contact Jo on 0427 512 719.

🐾 FREE VET SERVICES IN KATOOMBA! 🐶🐱

This is such a fantastic initiative from Animal Welfare League NSW, helping people in our community access essential veterinary care for their much-loved pets.

If you're a pensioner or on a low income and finding the cost of vet care difficult, this could be a great opportunity.

Free services include:
🐾 Health checks
🐾 Microchipping
🐾 C3 vaccinations for dogs
🐾 F3 vaccinations for cats

📅 Thursday 5 November
🕙 10am – 2pm
📍 Blue Mountains Animal Care Centre
121–125 Mort Street, Katoomba

A few things to remember:
🐱 Cats must be in carriers and dogs on leads.
🐕 Maximum of three animals per household.
📱 Bring a mobile device to sign in.
☀️ Be prepared for the weather, as queues can be long.

We know how important our animals are, especially when times are tough. No one should have to choose between looking after themselves and looking after their pets. ❤️

A big thank you to Animal Welfare League NSW and Buddy Pet Insurance for making this service available to our community.

Please share with anyone who might benefit! 🐾

📚 A Little Helping Hand Wanted! ☕🌿

Our Medlow to Mt.Vic Relaxed relaxed Bookclub is looking for a second female volunteer to lend a hand to Eloise with the organising and running of the monthly get-togethers.

It’s all about books, good company, social connection and making new friendships, so we're hoping to find someone who enjoys being part of a friendly community and would like to help the bookclub grow.

No special experience needed, just a willingness to help out and a love of bringing people together! ❤️

If you’re interested in volunteering for this, or would like to know a little more, call Hamish at BANC on 02 4787 7770 menu option 5

📚 Every little bit of help is appreciated!
