🚒👏 The Boddington Bushfire Brigade is proudly wearing new uniforms thanks to funding from Newmont Boddington's 2025 Community Assistance Program.

Run entirely by volunteers, the Brigade plays a vital role in helping protect the local community, particularly during the region's challenging bushfire seasons.

The funding provided new polo shirts and jumpers for all Brigade members, helping strengthen team identity and foster a strong sense of belonging among volunteers.

Newmont's Community Assistance Program supports local initiatives that enhance community wellbeing, build local capacity and capability, and create lasting benefits for the Boddington region.

A huge thank you to the dedicated volunteers who help keep our community safe. đź’›

🔧⚙️🔌⚡ Applications are currently open for Newmont Boddington’s 2027 Apprenticeship program!

What could hands-on, industry-leading training at a world-class gold mine lead to?

For Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic Alex, completing his apprenticeship at Newmont Boddington has enabled him to pursue his interests while maintaining a positive work-life balance.

After joining Newmont Boddington as a Trades Assistant with no previous mining experience, Alex chose to apply for an apprenticeship after enjoying working on machines. "I was previously installing fences, working in meat works, and putting up ceilings. I started working out here at 27, so it's never too late."

Alex's role involves fixing big machines and performing preventative maintenance. "If you like working on your own car, it's definitely a plus. Every day is different, and I love it now."

Alex works a 7:7 roster, allowing him to spend time with his young family and do things around the house. "Seven days at home equates to a lot more time off. I have a two young kids, so I spend most of my time with them."

He appreciates the supportive culture on site. "Everyone treats each other the same, from supervisors down. There's no 'purple circle,' and everyone is happy to help."

Alex's advice for anyone considering a career in mining? "Don't hesitate. There's plenty of career growth, especially at Boddington. I'm a hands-on person, and I like to keep active."

What does tailings management actually involve?

For Bio, it’s about making sure the systems behind the operation work safely and effectively — every day. From monitoring to design and ongoing management, it’s all part of how work gets done at Newmont Boddington.

It’s a role that connects engineering expertise with real responsibility on site.

Supporting the next generation of industry leaders 🎓

Newmont is proud to partner with Curtin University to support two outstanding students through our 2026 scholarship program - Jason Whiting (Mining Engineering) and Emily Feng (Metallurgy).

Jason, a second-year Mining Engineering student, developed his passion for the industry through early exposure to mining projects and a strong interest in mathematics and problem-solving. He’s now working towards a future in mine leadership, with a clear goal to create “a safe and positive environment” for others, just as he experienced in his own journey.

Emily, a second-year Chemical Engineering student, is driven by a passion for creative problem-solving and sustainability. Inspired by a lifelong interest in science and innovation, she hopes to contribute to more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible processes, including making mining and everyday products more sustainable.

We’re excited to support Jason and Emily as they continue their studies and help shape the future of our industry. 🌏
