Every day I come across outdated terms that can be easily replaced with alternatives:

But what does this look like in business and academic writing 🧐🤔🤷‍♀️

• Choose a term or its symbol and stay with it: ‘per cent’ or ‘%’💫
• Choose how numbers appear and stay with it: ‘28,000’ or ‘28 000’💫
• Choose your capitalisation style and stay with it: ‘international relations’ or ‘International Relations’💫
• Choose serial commas or not and stay with it: ‘one, two, and three’ or ‘one, two and three’💫
• Choose to hyphenate or not* and stay with it: ‘socio-economic’ or ‘socioeconomic’ (*rules apply)!💫
• Choose your English language style and stay with it: ‘program’ (AUS), ‘program’ (US) or ‘programme’ (UK)💫

It can be a bit of a minefield; professional editors are super skilled at fixing hard-to-spot inconsistencies.
