Do you find yourself struggling to be decisive when you need to show leadership?
Would you like to be clear in your decision making process and have complete confidence in the result?
As leaders we have many demands placed on us. We begin feeling fresh and confident however after a while we can become exhausted by everyone else’s input, ideas, needs and expectations. However, critical decisions still need to be made. Decisions are rarely stand-alone so every decision is compounded and may well impact in ever increasing ways . We need to take all stake holders into consideration, however this information gathering and decision making process can become never ending and we can become overwhelmed or lose sight of the original goal.
When we become clear and concise with our own decision-making process, we automatically create outcomes that are workable for everyone. When we feel confident that we have considered every aspect, including our own, we can present our decisions for the best outcome for all stakeholders. By combining our own real life wisdom and the experience of others we create an impact that benefits everyone.
The challenge is that we may make decisions (consciously or worse unconsciously) based on everyone else's needs together with mixed feelings from our own experiences. When we are guided by other’s needs, we are unable to see clearly, and we can miss the opportunity to utilise a different perspective. When we are guided by our own mixed feelings, we perceive situations from our own bias and create outcomes for our own self-interest. While it is important to be able to observe additional perspectives and additional information to move forward, that skill can be lost when we lose our own perspective.
