Delos Delta Managing Director, Brook Dixon, recently travelled across to Western Australia, to engage with the Town of Port Hedland and their stakeholders to help inform the development of an Economic Resilience and Recovery Plan for the Town.

The Plan will aim to strengthen the Region’s capacity to respond to, and recover from, significant economic disruption such as that caused cyclones and other disasters.

Was great to be on the ground in Part Hedland meeting with local businesses, major industries, community members and Town staff to help shape this important project.

Head to the Town’s Your Say page (link in comments) to learn more about the project, or complete the survey if you’re involved in the Port Hedland economy.

The Mid West Development Commission has released its Digital Economy Strategy 2026–2031 for the Mid West region.

The Hon. Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Regional Development and the Commission's CEO Nils Hay launched the Strategy at the Mid West Economic Forum earlier this month.

A strong digital economy strengthens communities and the economy by creating diverse jobs and industries, harnessing regional strengths and resources, advancing the energy transition, improving access to infrastructure and services, and enhancing regional liveability.

Delos Delta was proud to support MWDC in developing the Strategy, engaging more than 400 stakeholders across the region to capture local digital economy insights. With support from 361 Degree, the Strategy included inputs from residents, businesses, Aboriginal corporations, government agencies and key stakeholders, spanning small farming communities, remote pastoral towns, mining areas and more.

The Strategy aims to accelerate the Mid West’s digital potential across six strategic themes:
- Building our Digital Skills and Workforce
- Leveraging Connectivity and Infrastructure
- Promoting Digital for Business, Industry, and Innovation
- Fostering Collaboration and Investment
- Delivering Value to the Community
- Facilitating Economic Transformation and Resilience

Last week, General Manager, Anna Wilson, and Senior Consultant, Ruby Tucker, travelled to Circular Head in North West Tasmania, where we are working with Circular Head Council to develop their new Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan.

We spoke with community members and local businesses from across the region, as well as Council staff and elected representatives, to better understand local economic ambitions, priorities, opportunities and challenges.

Home to ‘the Tarkine’ wilderness, during the week we were able to admire the beautiful scenery, rolling hills and even came across some friendly locals (cows), eager to welcome us to the region.

While the region is renowned for its agriculture industry and tourism attractions (see photos), the local economy offers great diversity and sophistication, from exciting adventure running events to innovative farming practices. We also experienced first-hand the community spirit and sense of connection which locals frequently cited as an economic strength of the region.

We are looking forward to continuing the conversation and working with Circular Head Council and the community to shape the new Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan.

This week marks 10 years since our Managing Director, Brook Dixon, commenced his Churchill Fellowship study tour, thanks to the Winston Churchill Trust.

Brook’s Fellowship included visiting leading cities across Asia, Europe and the Americas to understand how they were (and still are) harnessing technology, data and innovation to create smarter, more efficient, liveable, safe, connected, sustainable, inclusive and prosperous places.

Since then, Brook and the Delos Delta team have added these insights into our work with government and private clients across Australia and overseas, helping them to design and deliver effective smart technology strategies, roadmaps, projects, programs, services, and assets.
