Traffic control is a team effort, and clear communication plays a critical role in keeping everyone coordinated and safe.

Across a worksite, traffic controllers may need to communicate with each other and other workers to help manage vehicle movements, changing site conditions, traffic queues and potential hazards.

That’s where radios, clear instructions and constant awareness come in.

Another project completed for the Logan community!

Traffic QLD & NSW was proud to provide traffic management services to See Civil throughout the much-needed Logan Reserve Road and School Road Intersection Upgrade.

A huge thank you to our incredible traffic management team for their consistent, dedicated and professional work throughout the project. Their efforts helped keep workers, motorists and the community moving safely while this important upgrade was delivered.

And now… the new traffic lights are officially operational! 🚦

Why are School Zones so Important?

Children don't always judge speed or distance the way adults do.

That's why school zones exist—to give drivers more time to react and help keep students, parents and crossing supervisors safe.

Next time you're driving through a school zone, remember to:

🚸 Slow down.
👀 Stay alert.
🚶 Watch for pedestrians.
🚗 Be patient with traffic.

Do you know what the SLOW bat means?

While it might seem obvious, this sign does more than simply tell you to reduce your speed.

When a traffic controller displays the SLOW bat, drivers should slow down, stay alert and be prepared for changing conditions ahead. It helps keep traffic flowing safely while protecting workers, motorists and pedestrians in and around the worksite.

Every direction given by a qualified traffic controller is there to keep everyone safe.

What Qualifications Do You Need to Work in Traffic Control?

While Townsville was still asleep, our crew was already on the ground.

From 2:00 AM, the Traffic QLD & NSW team was hard at work delivering the traffic management that helped make the 2026 Townsville Running Festival a safe success.

With more than 6,000 participants taking part, our responsibilities included:
• Setting up a fully coned race course
• Implementing strategic road closures
• Maintaining safe access for competitors, officials and the public
• Ensuring the course was ready before the first runners and wheelchair athletes set off at dawn

Events like these rely on months of planning and seamless ex*****on on the day. We're incredibly proud of our crew for their professionalism, teamwork and commitment to keeping the community safe.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in another successful Townsville Running Festival.
