A Fish Out of Water ππ
Finding a home. Signing a contract. It used to be one of the most joyful moments in a person's life.
Now? For a lot of people, it feels more like a dance β one where only a few people actually know the steps.
Here's a scenario that plays out more often than you'd think:
A lender asks all the right questions to inject the contract of sale β but still comes back needing an extension. "There's no way I can get this done by close of business."
Defeated, the buyer starts to accept it: maybe this home just isn't for them.
This is exactly where a broker steps in β escalating, pushing, doing everything possible to get eyes on it from someone higher up. Sometimes that works. Sometimes an extension still has to be sought regardless.
What we don't always see? The lender may have genuinely been escalating too β but between time-sensitive deadlines, other applications, and yes, even needing an actual lunch break β there simply aren't enough hours in the day.
What the lender often doesn't know is what's sitting on the other side of that file:
π A family staring down the possibility of homelessness
ποΈ Weeks sleeping on a couch at a parent's house
π Stress that's quietly straining a marriage
π§ A single mum having to explain to her kids that the home they fell in love with might not be theirs after all
Behind every file is a person. Behind every deadline is a story we don't always see.
So take a moment. Think about the person on the other side. And always β always β be kind.
