Fair Work has just announced that the Australian minimum wage will be increasing by 5.75% from 1 July. Fair Work have also ruled that minimum award rates will see the same percentage increase.

Additionally, we would like to remind you of the 0.5% increase to compulsory employer superannuation contributions (super guarantee), taking it up to 11% from 1 July.

It will be imperative for employers to review their employee’s wages and benefits to ensure minimum obligations continue to be met beyond 1 July. If you would like any advice or assistance in this space, we are always here to help.

All jobs have hazards and the potential for accidents to occur. To make the workplace safe and prevent or reduce hazards both the employer and the employees must follow safety guidelines and procedures, and all be committed to promoting safety.

❗Health and safety at work is everyone's responsibility❗

As an employer you have the main responsibility for the health and safety of everyone in your workplace, including visitors.

Employees also have WHS responsibilities. While at work, a worker must:

🔸 take reasonable care for their own health and safety,
🔸 take reasonable care for the health and safety of others; and
🔸 comply with any reasonable instructions, policies and procedure given by their employer, business or controller of the workplace.

Is everyone at your workplace aware of their WHS responsibilities? Are you meeting your WHS obligations? If the answer is no or ‘I don’t know’, it might be time to revise your WHS policies and procedures to ensure not only compliance but most importantly a safe workplace. ⛑
