What makes me qualified to be a mentor or coach?
Life Experience and Results ✨
When I was 20 years old, I approached my parents to see if they would go into partnership with me to open my very own salon. They probably thought it was a fad in the beginning. As a kid I always dreamed big and after graduating from TAFE and accepting a role in an Ella Baché salon in Brisbane, I soon wanted what my bosses at the time had. They were two incredible women who lead by example and really did inspire me to take those first steps into entrepreneurship.
I saw a need for a business in my local area and at the time, a shopping centre was being built. So we did some research and made the decision to buy a franchise.
As a 21 year old boss I had to learn quickly to back myself and find leadership skills. Even though I was shaking or running to the back room on many occasions to cry after something went wrong, I always tried to pick myself up and strive to be better.
I learnt quickly to think creatively when it came to marketing, client experience and building a family owned business that the community loved and supported. I put myself out there, I donated to local charities and often turned up to many women in business lunches as the youngest one there (now that was intimidating 😅)
Business was always a learning in progress, I invested in many coaches and mentors along the way. Ended up studying more courses and gained business qualifications as I went. I wanted to know everything I could to be successful. I had this unrelenting desire to reach 7 figures. And I came close SO many times!!
In 2011 we had our business almost destroyed by a flood peak of 20m which came so close to the shopping centre that we honestly don’t know how we came out of it unscathed. That year was one of the most challenging, having to rebuild business sales while your community was suffering loss.
As I went through life events such as marriage, children and change, I again had to work on finding a way to love my business through the chaos of motherhood. Eventually I removed myself from the business and it run without me and I reached my 7 figure goal.
