Since joining Sedgman in March, Frank has taken ownership of a large, demanding and highly complex technology package requiring management of evolving stakeholder needs, complex interfaces, and other challenges. He has consistently demonstrated professionalism, resilience and a solutions-focused approach, and proactively delivered cost-saving solutions.

Frank's dynamic role as a Project Manager requires a combination of leadership, engineering and project ex*****on. Beyond his deep technical knowledge, Frank must also work with the strengths of his interdisciplinary teams, and balance requirements, schedules, costs, and expectations to make informed decisions which are aligned with project goals.

The complexity of this job motivates Frank to apply his best efforts: he considers it incredibly fulfilling to overcome the challenges and uncertainty that can arise in project work, and see a solution through.

Though Frank has been recognised for excelling in his responsibilities, he insists his work is a team effort: "Complex projects are never delivered by one person. They require people with different expertise, different perspectives and a lot of commitment. So, for me, this award is also a recognition of this collaboration and trust."

A milestone week for the Queensland Resources Common User Facility (QRCUF) team.

The successful production of the facility's first batch of vanadium pentoxide, alongside the completion of a graphite processing campaign, marks an important step in advancing Queensland's critical minerals capability.

Delivering this outcome required the implementation of engineering controls, operating procedures and specialised PPE requirements to support the safe processing of a new product stream. Through careful planning, collaboration and operational discipline, these controls were successfully integrated into the facility.

These milestones demonstrate the flexibility of the QRCUF facility and the expertise of the team behind it, showcasing the innovation, technical capability and commitment to safety required to bring emerging critical minerals projects to life.

Congratulations to everyone involved, including the Office of the Coordinator-General, in delivering these outcomes safely and successfully.

Thanks to AusIMM for a successful Critical Minerals 2026 conference in Brisbane! The event connected resource industry professionals to discuss the issues shaping the future of critical minerals – from markets and supply chains, to project development, processing product testing, social licence and sustainability.

Sedgman’s own David Proud, Jenny Agnew, Michael Hart and Andrew Curtis took part in the event chairing different panels.

For Andrew, one of the key takeaways was the discussion around the increasing need for collaboration across governments, academia, industry and offtake partners as projects become more complex. As the critical minerals sector continues to evolve, these partnerships will be essential to building project delivery, advancing innovation and strengthening resilient supply chains.
