It's always a treat spending time in North West Queensland, so it was great to have Jo back out in Julia Creek this week to meet with the North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils to talk about drought resilience in the region.
We're in the early stages of the second round of the Regional Drought Resilience Planning (RDRP) Program, led by the Rural Economies Centre of Excellence and Queensland Agriculture.
Regional Drought Resilience Plans will be delivered across nine Queensland regions, including the North West, in close consultation with councils, organisations and communities. The plans will have a sharp focus on the agricultural sector and allied industries and help to drive decisions, actions and investments to proactively manage drought risk.
Importantly, the plans will build on the Regional Resilience Strategies and the Queensland Strategy for Disaster Resilience led by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
The RDRP program is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the Queensland Government. You can read more about the program at https://bit.ly/3W1Qflg
We look forward to being back out in the North West soon!
