A reminder that Superannuation payments are due on the 28th of July. You must pay super for eligible employees to avoid the super guarantee charge.
If you use a clearing house. Depending on which clearinghouse you use, your employee's super contribution is considered 'paid' on the date it's received by the super fund. Not the date it's received by the clearing house. Check the payment dates with your clearing house to ensure your payments will be processed before the due dates.

Employers reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP) need to make a finalisation declaration by 14 July each year.

Making a finalisation declaration
You need to make a finalisation declaration by 14 July each year to ensure your employees can access their finalised information to complete their tax return.

If you can't make a finalisation declaration on or before the due date, you will need to apply for a deferral.

Employers with closely held payees
If you have 20 or more employees, you should be reporting closely held payees each pay day along with arms-length employees. The finalisation due date for closely held payees is 30 September each year.

For small employers (19 or fewer employees) who only have closely held payees, the due date for end-of-year STP finalisation is the payee's tax return due date.

For an employer with a mixture of both closely held payees and arms-length employees, the due date for end-of-year STP finalisation for closely held payees is 30 September each year. All other employees are due 14 July each year.

Scam warning: AFP letter ⚠️

We have received reports about a scam prosecution notice claiming to be from the AFP Commissioner. This document is NOT from the AFP. This version of the scam claims that we "will take legal action against you” for reasons including "indecent exposure" and "exhibitionism”.

The AFP will never contact you like this. If you receive an email or any correspondence similar to this, do not click on any links and do not respond to the sender. Screen shot the document, delete it, and report to Scamwatch: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/

If the AFP needs to contact you, you'll know it, and we’d try to use the correct grammar.

ch-ch-ch-changes! 🎵
There were lots of changes in the 2022/23 income year. Let’s recap a few:

🏠 How you claim working from home (WFH) expenses has changed.
🚗 The cents-per-km rate for claiming car expenses increased.
📚 The need to exclude the first $250 of self-education expenses was removed.

So make sure you don’t ‘copy and paste’ your deductions from last year!
