Food Safety Update – Logan Incident ⚠
Queensland Health has confirmed that two homemade, unlabelled food products linked to the recent Logan poisoning incident have tested positive for toxins found in rat poison.
The items — a capsicum and chilli paste and a marinated eggplant dish — were reportedly gifted or purchased from individuals, not from licensed or commercial food businesses.
Health authorities have emphasised that the risk to the broader community is low, as these items were not distributed through takeaway outlets or retail stores.
This situation serves as a strong reminder of why proper labelling, sourcing transparency, and compliance with food safety standards are critical — even for small or home-based producers.
For food operators in the Logan and Greater Brisbane area, now is a good time to review your food safety systems, supplier verification, and traceability processes.
Stay informed, stay compliant, and prioritise public trust in every step of your food handling and production.
