Messi to PSG is all but guaranteed, even as a PSG fan there is still dejection seeing that Barcelona has mismanaged their financial situation so poorly that they are losing the best football player ever.

This is not the fault of the current directorship of Joan Laporta but the previous tenureship of Bartomeu. The departure was caused by a collection of issues starting with overspending on underperforming players, under developing youth, the reduced funds caused by the pandemic and the fact that Messi’s contract was the last to be renewed, meaning Barcelona could not register him with Liga despite multiple attempts by Laporta to petition a financial exemption to secure La Liga’s most valuable asset in Lionel Messi.

On the positive side, Messi, Mbappé and Neymar is going to be the best front 3 I’ve even seen and will likely help Paris extend Mbappé’s contract past the end of this season with a 1-2 year extension, especially if PSG can win the upcoming Champions League.

Mbappé was set to leave on a free at the end of this season, expressing he wants to play for the best possible team and was heavily linked to Real Madrid. With the addition of Lio Messi, *and hopefully a Champions League title* it is hard to argue he isn't on the best possible team already. Mbappé may decide to stay until the end of Messi’s contract, which an offer has been made to Lionel for a 2-year deal, with an optional 1 added on at £25 million net per year.

If you looked at the score and stats after the France game you might think it could have been underwhelming, 38% possession and 1-0 coming from an own goal by Germany. If this is what you thought, I assure you that you’re mistaken.

France looked dangerous the entire game, Kylian Mbappé frequently threatened the back line and if it wasn’t for a couple of slight offside calls and a poor decision from Rabiot not to pass to Griezman it likely would have been 3-0 against a German team that played well.

Additionally, the own goal wasn’t your usual messy handling of the ball, if Hummels didn’t attempt to clear the ball it would have been a tap in goal for Mbappé from the forceful crossing ball by Hernández.

Most impressively but not surprising, the French defense was formidable and calm, Raphaël Varane and Presnel Kimpembe commanded the defense through the center and cleared most balls that came close to the box. N'Golo Kanté played his usual role and swarmed on the ball while Paul Pogba showed remarkable control moving the ball out the back through the German defenders with a sense of silkiness that only a national team Pogba would display, earning him a deserved man of the match.

One of the first signings of the season completed this weekend. Welcoming Gianni Zanaboni to King Sports International.

Gianni has played professionally in Argentina for Club Atlético Temperley and Club Atlético Lanús as a Goalkeeper. Gianni has made the switch to striker, with his strong frame at 6’5, shot strength and ball control, he is an ideal true 9.
