A de facto relationship means more than just dating. You’ll need to show that:

You are not married to each other.

You share a mutual commitment to a shared life.

Your relationship is genuine and continuing.

📊 Updated English Language Levels and Test Score Requirements (2025):

These are the minimum test scores required for each English language level under the 2025 Migration Regulations. There are now more tests accepted for Australian visa application purpose.

On 7 August 2025, the Australian Government introduced new rules for how English language proficiency is assessed for visa purposes. The Migration (Specification of Language Tests, Test Scores and Passports) Instrument 2025 updates the list of accepted English tests and the test scores that count as Vocational, Competent, Proficient, and Superior English.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Approved English Tests
Applicants can now prove English proficiency through the following recognised tests:

IELTS (Academic & General Training)

OET (Occupational English Test)

TOEFL iBT

PTE Academic

Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE)

CELPIP General

LANGUAGECERT Academic

Michigan English Test (MET) (Note: Not accepted for Superior English)
