A Big Dry Friday good news story.
Earlier this month, the Bluey and Flintstones Variety Bash teams drove thousands of kilometres across the Queensland outback and visited more than 700 children in 13 remote communities throughout far North Queensland, backed in part by Big Dry Friday donors.
Along the way the teams handed out school grants for much needed learning equipment and met families they are supporting directly. Between them, the two cars raised over $90,000, contributing to the $1.81 million raised across the 2026 Queensland Variety Bash. That money goes to Variety QLD - the Children’s Charity of Queensland, which supported more than 10,000 Queensland kids last year.
Alan Savin, leading team Bluey, said: “Queensland is a big state, and it is easy to forget just how far ‘remote’ really is until you have driven it. Thank you to every Big Dry Friday donor, partner and supporter who helped close that distance.”
