How do we know if the work we do is actually making a difference for children and families? 💛

In our sector, it's easy to measure activity. It's much harder, and far more important, to measure impact.

Ashleigh Bell shares her thoughts on why impact measurement matters, what we're doing in our own organisation, and how you can start asking the right questions.

We love hearing feedback like this! 💛

When we asked Alison and the team at Reilly Dance Academy if they felt confident in their child safeguarding responsibilities after completing our Safe Spaces program — the answer was a resounding YES.

“The discussions helped us to think further and investigate procedures that we currently have in place and implement changes/additions.”

They reviewed their practices, strengthened their approach to child safety, and walked away with real confidence.

Oh, and one more thing they said? ‘Keep up the good work!’ 🙌

If you’re wondering whether your organisation is meeting its Child Safe Standards obligations, we’d love to help.

Who Needs the Child Safe Ready Program?

Do you need to review your child safe practices?

It's a question many small organisations are starting to ask.

Queensland's Child Safe Standards doesn't just apply to large services. If you work with children in any capacity, your business is included.

That could be:
✓ Therapeutic services
✓ Sporting clubs
✓ Tutors and education providers
✓ Child care
✓ Dance, music or creative programs
✓ Even sole operators

The challenge isn't commitment. We all want to do the right thing. It's knowing where to start or whether what you already have in place is enough.

That's where our Child Safe Ready Program comes in.

We work alongside you to:
✓ Review your current practices and identify strengths
✓ Assess your physical environment and service delivery
✓ Provide a clear, practical snapshot of where you stand
✓ Equip you with tools, training and resources tailored to your organisation

This isn't about overcomplicating things. It's about giving you clarity and confidence that you're creating a safe environment for children and meeting your obligations.

If you've been wondering whether it's time to take a closer look, it probably is.

We're here to support you every step of the way.

Standing with you. 🤝

Partnership Spotlight: Positive Behaviour Support Training with Key Assets

We recently partnered with the Key Assets team in Aotearoa New Zealand to co-design and deliver Positive Behaviour Support training.

This work brought together current research, practical tools, and culturally responsive approaches—all focused on supporting children and young people with complex needs in ways that truly work.

We shaped the training to fit Key Assets' strong values and practice, centring reflective, trauma-informed care. Always keeping mokopuna at the heart while supporting mātua whāngai.

Why live sessions matter: With teams spread out and working flexibly, creating space to come together really matters. Live sessions gave people time to reflect, share ideas, and connect their learning to practice.

The feedback: Participants found the sessions engaging, clear, and supportive. They felt safe to reflect and speak openly, valued the practical tools and frameworks, and left feeling more confident supporting mokopuna and working alongside mātua whāngai.

We're grateful to Key Assets for the opportunity to work together and support their teams. 🤝

National Reconciliation Week: All In

National Reconciliation Week is a time to learn, reflect, and take action.

This year's theme, All In, is a simple but powerful call: Reconciliation needs all of us.

It asks us to:
✓ Listen more deeply to truth telling
✓ Better understand the histories and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
✓ Consider what meaningful action looks like in our own spaces

Reconciliation is not a single moment in time—it's an ongoing commitment.

Across communities and organisations, this week is an opportunity to create space for learning, have important conversations, and strengthen culturally safe, respectful ways of working.

Being All In means showing up with intent.

Not just during this week, but every day. We all have a role to play.

National Sorry Day: Listening, Remembering, and Doing Better

Today, I'm taking a moment to reflect on National Sorry Day.

It's a day that asks all of us to listen. To remember.

At Social Care Solutions, this isn't separate from our work. It's at the heart of it.

We talk a lot about trauma-informed care, creating safe, respectful systems, and supporting people in ways that don't cause further harm. Days like today remind me why that matters so much.

Days like today challenge us to keep asking better questions:
✓ Are our services truly culturally safe?
✓ Are we listening deeply enough?
✓ Are we doing enough to support healing, not just manage need?

There's still a long way to go. But there's also an opportunity for all of us—as leaders, practitioners, and organisations—to be part of that change.

Today is about truth telling that leads to action.

Our entire organisation is committed to making sure our work continues to reflect that.

Breaking Down The Child Safe Ready Program: Speaking Up

Do your staff feel safe to speak up?

This is a really hard thing to gauge—and it takes a lot more than written policies to see it work in practice.

It takes a strong safeguarding culture. It depends on people feeling confident to raise concerns, ask questions and challenge when something doesn't feel right.

And many people won't do that if they don't feel safe.

The result? Risks stay hidden.

And kids, and your organisation, can't risk that.

Our Child Safe Ready Program helps you:
✓ Build a culture where speaking up is expected and supported
✓ Equip leaders to respond constructively and consistently
✓ Create clear, practical pathways for raising concerns

This is how safeguarding becomes part of everyday practice—not just documentation.

Real safety starts from within.

If you're ready to strengthen this within your organisation, we'd love to work with you.

Breaking Down The Child Safe Ready Program: Family Inclusion

Do families feel included?

Strong safeguarding happens in partnership. Not in isolation.

Families are a vital part of a child's safety network. When the whole 'village' feels informed, respected and included, outcomes are stronger for everyone.

But inclusion doesn't just happen—it takes intention.

Through our Child Safe Ready Program, we support organisations to:
✓ Strengthen communication with families in clear, practical ways
✓ Build trust through transparency and consistency
✓ Create opportunities for families to contribute and be heard

When families feel included, children are better supported.

If you're not sure how this looks in practice for your organisation, we're here to help.

Safety is something we build together.
