"Just babysitting."

It's a phrase that undersells early educators every single time.

As a mum of three, I know there's no such thing as "just" caring for children. On any given day I've been a chauffeur, chef, nutritionist, counsellor, conflict mediator, event organiser... all before breakfast.

Early childhood educators do the same, and more. They're building the foundations children will rely on for the rest of their lives, during the years when it matters most.

That takes knowledge, skill, patience and dedication. It deserves recognition.

Children don't just deserve adults who care. They deserve adults who are equipped to help them thrive.
