Spring hiring season is here.
As we say goodbye to winter and hello to warmer weather, something else often starts to heat up too, the job market.
With only a few months until Christmas, businesses start looking closely at their staffing needs and thinking about how they want to finish the year and, importantly, how they want to begin the next one.
Budgets have been set. Plans have been made. Gaps have been identified.
And so, the hiring commences.
If you're a business looking to bolster your team with crucial new hires, now is the time to put your best foot forward.
Look at your timelines. Do you have a clear process in place? Who needs to be involved? When are interviews happening? How quickly can decisions be made?
And perhaps most importantly, take a good look at your recruitment process.
Are you getting the best out of candidates throughout the process or are you doing certain things simply because “that's how we've always done it”?
Does that third interview actually add value?
Is that assessment necessary for this particular role?
Are there unnecessary delays between stages?
Does everyone involved know what they're assessing?
And are you remembering that while you're assessing the candidate, they're assessing you too?
A thorough recruitment process is important. A long recruitment process isn't necessarily a good recruitment process.
When the market starts moving, good candidates have choices. The businesses that are clear, organised, responsive and genuinely engaging throughout the process are the ones that put themselves in the strongest position to secure them.
Spring hiring season is here. Make sure you're ready for it.
