A big thank you to Shawn Phua Auslanism for coming along today and supporting Beatriz Hudson with the Silent Aqua! 💦

Wow!! We had 8 deaf altogether including 4 hearing people! It was wonderful to see hearing people joining in participating and enjoying Aqua with our deaf community.

It was such a wonderful session today! Thank you everyone for coming and supporting an inclusive activity for deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people together. 💦🤟🌸

Hope to see even more people next time! 🌻

FAB Disability Services wants to help you!

If you don't want to complete the Census online, that's okay.

You can:
• Call the Census using the National Relay Service (NRS) to request a paper form before 11th August or
• Visit a Census pop-up hub on 11th August to collect a paper form.

➡️VERY IMPORTANT: If you don't understand the Census questions online or paper form, ask your support worker or interpreter to help you complete the Census and they can translate the questions for you.

➡️On page 21 of the Census paper form / online in the language section, make sure you put auslan as your language.

This helps the Australian Government understand how many people use auslan and helps support the deaf community. 🤟

🫶 Every Auslan user counts.

Every five years, the Census helps shape Australia's future. For the Deaf community, it also shapes how governments understand the size, diversity and needs of people who communicate in Auslan.

✴️If Auslan is your primary or preferred language, make sure you record it in the 2026 Census.

In the 2021 Census, 16,242 people recorded using Auslan at home. Many believe the true number is much higher. Every person who identifies Auslan helps build a clearer picture of our community and strengthens the case for better accessibility, services and recognition.

When completing either your own (or the person you are helping) Census form:

✅ Go to Question 21
✅ Select "Yes, other language (please specify)"
✅ Write or type "Auslan"

It takes only a few seconds, but the impact can be felt for years to come.
