ANZAC - Lest We Forget

An Imortal Reflection by Mako Mick

On a single day each and every year two nations pause as one;
In moments of reflection under a golden southern sun.
Men and women, black and white united for a cause;
Through acts of courage now and then, it is for freedom that we pause.

On familiar soil and in foreign lands they strived towards a dream;
But before it could be realised their innocence they would redeem.
Form Darwin to the Dardanelles, New Guinea to Nui Dat, Crete, the Somme, the Coral Sea;
And that bloody cove called Gallipoli.

Their faces fresh, their hearts resolved, their deeds would go unmatched;
While some would live to tell their tale, others their souls dispatched.
Not only men and women but our animal friends as well;
All were forced to risk their lives so this story we can tell.

While the shadows lengthen on those very first of battles;
Our minds stay sharp and our memories clear of those nation defining matters.
So rest assure your courageous souls to who we give to thanks;
The memories of your sacrifices and heroic deeds will forever pass through our ranks.

Saturday night Australia is in for a treat with a Total Lunar Eclispe. The next one visible in Australia won't be until 2018. The East coast will see the full eclipse and Western Australia will be treated to a red moon rising on the horizon.
I hope we get some clear skies.
