The oldest elevator in all of Europe, at the Pera Palace hotel. Built in 1890 for the Orient Express Train. Legendary authors such as Ernest Hemingway & Agatha Christie stayed here many years ago. Agatha was remembered for always wanting to stay in room 411, where she no doubt wrote many chapters for her famous book "Murder on the Orient Express" Another piece of history for you, Agatha went missing for 11 days in 1926, with many believing that she had passed. However she was later found at a hotel in Harrogate and had no recollection of how she got there.
