ISO 9001:2026 is here!

After more than a decade since the last major revision, the new edition of ISO 9001 has now been published.

The updated standard builds on the existing framework, with greater emphasis on areas such as quality culture and ethical behaviour, risks and opportunities, organisational change, leadership and continual improvement.

For most organisations, the transition will be about taking a considered look at the Quality Management System you already have:
👉 Does it still reflect the way your organisation works today?
👉 Is it helping your people and your business improve?
👉 Where does it genuinely need to be strengthened?

There is time to transition, but now is a good opportunity to start understanding the changes and planning what comes next.

At Kitney Consulting, we can support organisations with ISO 9001:2026 readiness and gap reviews, Quality Management System updates, internal auditing, transition planning and implementation support.

As a trusted partner in quality and WHS, we’re here to support you as your systems, people and organisation continue to evolve. Get in touch with our team to start a conversation:https://lnkd.in/gcMmqGcE

Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of being part of the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland's Work Well Conference in Brisbane, exhibiting alongside Wellness Designs!

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with so many people. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and shared ideas with us. We loved the conversations!

A few key takeaways we're reflecting on:
- Emerging technologies are changing the way we work and can be a powerful enabler.
- Wellbeing needs to be part of everyday work, not just a standalone initiative.
- Connection and collaboration matter. Sharing experiences, challenges and ideas helps us all find better ways forward.

It was also a great opportunity to showcase our Digital Wellbeing Platform Accelerator with Wellness Designs. Combining our expertise in workplace wellbeing and Microsoft 365 solutions, the Accelerator brings wellbeing resources, initiatives and information together in one accessible, connected space. And of course, thank you to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and everyone involved in bringing together such a valuable event.

Week 2 of Safe Work Month | This week’s theme is Safe work is for health – what WHS protects.

When we talk about safety, it’s easy to think first about hazards, incidents and procedures. But good WHS also protects something much bigger: our health and wellbeing.

It’s about creating workplaces where people can work well, feel supported and speak up when something doesn’t feel right.

That might mean changing the way a task is done.
It might mean having a better conversation.

It might mean asking:
How could we make this better for the people doing the work?

Sometimes that one question can lead to a better way of working.

Thinking about what safety could look like in your workplace? Please do not hesitate to book a discovery call with our Managing Director, Jo Kitney! https://lnkd.in/gcMmqGcE

This week marks the start of National Safe Work Month and this week’s theme is Safe work is for life – why WHS matters.

There’s a question worth asking this October:

What are you working safely for?

Maybe it’s family. Travel. Friends. Sport. Your team. The weekend. Or simply being able to keep doing what you love.

This year’s theme is Safe work is for life, and we love the bigger idea behind it.

Safety isn’t just about avoiding something going wrong.

It’s about creating workplaces where people can do their best work, look after one another and enjoy everything that comes after the working day.

Because when we remember who and what we’re working safely for, safety becomes a lot more meaningful.

If this month has prompted you to take a closer look at safety in your workplace, please feel free to contact our Kitney team: https://lnkd.in/g3bfcdyf

With Safe Work Month approaching this October, it’s a timely reminder that workplace safety is about more than physical hazards, it’s also about protecting psychological health and wellbeing.

Psychosocial hazards can arise from the way work is designed, managed and experienced, and the latest Safe Work Australia data shows just how common these risks are across Australian workplaces.

This October, we’re looking forward to continuing the conversation at the Work Well Conference 2026 by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

On 7 October, Kitney will be joining Wellness Designs at Booth 14 to talk about ways organisations can strengthen psychosocial safety and workplace wellbeing! From identifying psychosocial hazards, integrating WHS and wellbeing, and using digital solutions to better support people at work. Feel free to drop by and we'd love to have a chat!

See you there

We were delighted to receive a wonderful note of congratulations from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) following Kitney being recognised as Small Business of the Year at the ACS (Australian Computer Society) Queensland Tech Awards! 🏆

A special thank you to Distinguished Professor Patsy Yates (Executive Dean, Faculty of Health) and Jason Curtis (Acting Executive Director, Alumni and Engagement), for their kind words and continued support.

Our relationship with QUT is one we truly value. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming students into Kitney through placements and work opportunities.

Supporting students as they build their skills, confidence and experience is incredibly important to us. These connections create opportunities for learning in both directions and help develop the next generation of professionals.

Thank you so much to everyone at QUT for the continous support!

On 10 September, our Managing Director, Jo Kitney, had the pleasure of presenting at the Queensland Leaders Pty Ltd Workshop on Future-Ready Leadership: Building High-Performing Organisations

The session explored what it takes to build safer, smarter and more resilient organisations, from developing high-performing teams, strengthening accountability, and putting the right systems in place to support growth.

One of the key takeaways from the discussion was how quickly the leadership horizon is changing and how close the future is.

With strategic plans looking 3 to 5 years and operating plans 12 months ahead, many organisations are bringing their planning horizon forward to 3 to 6 months to stay agile and adapt as circumstances change, and technology and expectations evolve.

Jo enjoyed hearing from business owners and leaders in the room about the challenges and opportunities they are navigating within their own organisations.

A great session and an important reminder that becoming “future-ready” is less about predicting exactly what comes next, and more about building an organisation that is ready to respond when it does.

Still feeling very grateful after last Thursday night! Kitney was named GovReady Small Business of the Year at the ACS (Australian Computer Society) Awards 🏆

It was such a special evening, and even more meaningful to be able to share it our team members - Jo Kitney, John Beach, Sayand Sajith, Juan Diego Martinez Roa, Matthew Su and Aidan Wilson.

Kitney began in the work health and safety space. Over the years, we have embraced technology and the endless possibilities it creates — finding new ways to make WHS simpler, more accessible and more connected for the workplaces we support.

Technology has opened up so many opportunities for us to rethink how WHS can be delivered, experienced and embedded into everyday work.

That is why receiving a technology award feels particularly special. It recognises how far we have come in bringing our WHS expertise together with technology, while continuing to stay true to what Kitney has always been about.

A big thank you to ACS (Australian Computer Society) for the recognition, and congratulations to all of the other finalists and winners. It was wonderful to celebrate alongside so many talented people and businesses.

A very proud night for the Kitney team ❤️

AI and digital technologies are changing the way we work along with the way we need to think about work health and safety.

Safe Work Australia is putting greater focus on the opportunities and risks created by AI and emerging digital technologies.

At Kitney, we believe these changes need to be considered across 3 interconnected workspaces:

Physical: where people, equipment and work environments interact
Digital: the systems, data, automation and technology supporting how work gets done.
Psychosocial: the culture, relationships, workload, trust and wellbeing that shape the human experience of work.

Few WHS challenges sit neatly within just one of these areas...

That is why Kitney is particularly well placed to support organisations navigating the next generation of WHS. Our experience spans all 3 workspaces, bringing together WHS expertise, psychosocial risk management, Microsoft 365, digital WHS systems, automation, data and AI.

As technology continues to reshape the workplace, the opportunity is not simply to adopt new tools. It is to design safer, smarter and more human-centred ways of working.

If your organisation is exploring AI, digital technology or the future of WHS systems, we’d be pleased to start the conversation!

We’re incredibly proud to share that Jo Kitney and Kitney Group have been named finalists in three categories at the ACS (Australian Computer Society) Awards:

🏆 Professional of the Year
🏆 Industry Leader of the Year
🏆 Small Business of the Year

This recognition tells a story that goes well beyond technology.

We have always believed that WHS is more than policies and compliance. It is about understanding how people work, solving real problems and finding practical ways to make workplaces safer and better.

Technology has become an important part of how we do that.

Our Managing Director, Jo Kitney, will be the first to admit that she is probably one of the least technical people you will ever meet!

What she does have is a clear vision for what could be better, the ability to bring the right people together, and plenty of grit and determination to turn an idea into something real.

That is where the strength of our team comes in.

At Kitney, we bring together WHS expertise, technology, decades of experience and practical thinking. We are fortunate to work with clients who trust us to challenge the way things have always been done, ask better questions and explore new ways of working.

The projects we have delivered are a testament to what can happen when great people, a shared purpose and the right technology come together.

We’re looking forward to attending the ACS (Australian Computer Society) Awards Night this Thursday with some members of our amazing team - Sayand Sajith, Juan Diego Martinez Roa, Matthew Su, Aidan Wilson and John Beach.

To be recognised across these three categories is incredibly special.

We’re so grateful to our team, our clients, our partners and everyone who has supported Kitney Group along the way!
