Most project managers don’t struggle with schedules. They struggle with people.

The stakeholder who agrees in the meeting… then changes direction later. The difficult conversations no one wants to have. The challenge of building trust in fast-moving, AI-driven workplaces.

Join PMI Queensland for an interactive session with William Farmer from Dale Carnegie Australia as we explore the human skills that still make the biggest difference in project delivery.

Every PM knows the feeling.
Priorities change overnight. Timelines shift. Stakeholders want answers yesterday. And somehow, the PMO keeps everything moving forward.

That’s what International PMO Day 2026 is about.

Not controlling complexity — navigating it.

This year, PMI Queensland celebrates the PMO professionals keeping projects aligned, teams connected, and organisations steady through constant change and the growing impact of AI.

Because behind every successful delivery is usually a PMO quietly holding the whole thing together.

Happy International PMO Day to the navigators of the project world 💙

Ever delivered a project perfectly… but still felt like something didn’t quite land?

In today’s environment, technical excellence isn’t enough. The real differentiator? How you lead, influence, and connect projects to business outcomes.

This month, PMI Queensland welcomes Tanya Abbey, CEO of RecruitCorp Group, for an insightful session:
Beyond Delivery: The Power Skills & Business Acumen Every Project Manager Needs

With over 20 years of experience across recruitment strategy, leadership, and business growth, Tanya brings a practical, real-world perspective on what organisations are truly looking for in project professionals today.

In this session, she’ll explore why the biggest project challenges aren’t technical — they’re about communication, stakeholder alignment, and commercial understanding — and how mastering these can elevate your impact.

You’ll walk away with practical insights to:
• Strengthen your Power Skills and lead with greater influence
• Apply Business Acumen to make smarter, more strategic decisions
• Identify capability gaps across the PMI Talent Triangle
• Align your projects with broader organisational strategy
• Position yourself as a trusted advisor, not just a delivery lead

If you’re ready to move beyond delivery and make a bigger impact in your organisation, this session is for you.

A huge thank you to Thomas Krafft, Director at Blue Box Data Storytelling, for a fantastic session at last Thursday’s Creating Successful Data Stories chapter event.

From the very start, Thomas created a fun, engaging and highly interactive atmosphere, encouraging genuine back‑and‑forth with the room to ensure the content stayed relevant and practical for everyone. The energy in the room really showed how effective data storytelling can be when it’s tailored to the audience.

The feedback from the night made it clear that everyone took something meaningful away — whether it was a new way to think about the journey from analysis to action, or a fresh perspective on how small changes in the way information is structured and visually presented can drive much bigger impact.

It was a great reminder that successful data communication isn’t about adding complexity — it’s about clarity, purpose and always answering the “so what?”.

Thank you again, Thomas, for sharing your expertise, insights and enthusiasm. We truly appreciated the time you spent with our community and the value you brought to the room.

Too early, and it feels unnecessary.
Too late, and you’re already behind.

Bringing change professionals into a project at the right time is harder than it sounds.

Wait too long, and you’re trying to retrofit adoption.
Bring them in too early, and momentum can stall.

So how do you get the timing right?

Join PMI Queensland this Friday lunchtime for How to Work with Change Professionals with Kelly-Anne Philp.

Because getting the timing right isn’t just helpful, it’s often the difference between change that lands and change that lingers.

Good data doesn’t automatically create good decisions.

In fact, in many project environments, more data often creates more confusion, not less.

That’s exactly why PMI Queensland is hosting Thomas Krafft, Director of Blue Box Data Storytelling, for our April Chapter Event: Creating Successful Data Stories.

With a background in aviation and a career helping organisations communicate complex insights, Thomas understands what most data presentations miss — clarity, context, and a clear call to action.

This session goes beyond charts and dashboards. It’s about how to make data land with the people who need to act on it.

You’ll explore:
• Why stakeholders disengage from “data-heavy” presentations
• How to translate analysis into a clear narrative
• The role of audience understanding in driving decisions
• A simple system to improve how you visualise and present data

If you’re in project delivery, analysis, or leadership, this is about one thing — making sure your work leads to action, not just reporting.

Most data presentations don’t fail because of bad analysis, they fail because the message gets lost along the way.

We’ve all seen it: slides packed with charts, dashboards full of detail, and still… no clear decision at the end.

This Thursday, PMI Queensland welcomes Thomas Krafft, Director of Blue Box Data Storytelling, for Creating Successful Data Stories — a practical session focused on turning data into clarity, and clarity into action.

Thomas works with data teams who already have the insights but struggle to get them understood, remembered, and acted on. His focus is simple: if your audience can’t see the story, they won’t act on the data.

In this session, you’ll learn how to:
• Strip back complexity without losing meaning
• Structure insights so they naturally lead to decisions
• Identify what your audience actually needs to hear
• Build visuals that clarify, not clutter

If you’ve ever left a meeting thinking “we had everything we needed, but still went nowhere”, this session will resonate.

Who owns change in a project?

Is it the Project Manager driving delivery?
Or the Change Manager supporting adoption?

When that line isn’t clear, things start to slip.
Priorities clash. Expectations blur. Outcomes suffer.

Join PMI Queensland this Friday lunchtime for How to Work with Change Professionals, featuring Kelly-Anne Philp, Director at The Change Leaders Attaché.

The strongest project environments aren’t the ones with the best plans,
they’re the ones where roles are understood and collaboration is intentional.
