It's been an intense start for the year here with a variety of exciting projects underway (hence why this page has been so quiet!).

We've been developing a global community of changemakers at Impact Boom (www.impactboom.org) - come join us! You'll find a tonne of resources to turn your ideas into positive impact.

Impact Boom has been running the Elevate+ Accelerator Program for 25 of Brisbane's top, emerging social entrepreneurs and we'd love you to come to BRISBANE POWERHOUSE on May 31 for a celebration, networking and pitch night where you can meet an amazing community of purpose-driven people. Elevate+ is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.

Beyond this, we've been running an array of workshops and consulting with purpose-lead clients on HCD/Design thinking, lecturing at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) and Griffith University and continuing our school programs at Pimpama State Secondary College.

We'll look forward to hearing about YOUR news, collaborating and certainly value having face-to-face time with you instead of online... :-)

We invite you to join us in celebrating Brisbane's social enterprise & innovation community for a lively evening of networking and pitches from Brisbane's top, emerging impact entrepreneurs. Brisbane friends -> On Tuesday, 18 July, join CQUniversity Australia's Social Innovation team and local change leaders, for a lively public panel session on how we can all make a difference, and how social innovation can drive the process.

Titled Create Good. Transform the World. How? Start with Breakfast, the useful networking event will start with breakfast and coffee from 7.15am, before attendees settle in to consider social innovation from every angle.

Speakers include Chad Renando of Fire Station 101, Dr Olav Muurlink (chair of Co-operation in Development, one of the largest educational NGOs in Bangladesh, and a Senior Lecturer) and Seven Positive Director Tom Allen (who also leads Impact Boom). The event will be moderated by Dr Linda De George-Walker.

How do you create the problem statement you need to find a solution to your business problem?

Unfortunately, there is no ideal problem statement. Instead, the most consistently creative people and groups are ones that find many different ways to describe the problem being solved. We ask people to “think outside the box,” but we should be asking people to find more descriptions of the box.

We're proud to be providing knowledge & content on design led innovation for the Queensland Government's upcoming Assistive Devices Hackathons in regional cities.

The Hackathons will each be a two-and-a-half-day intensive making marathon held in Mackay, Toowoomba and Townsville between July and August 2017. People with a disability - and a well-identified need - will work with a team of makers, mentored by a manufacturing industry expert, to develop a prototype that meets their needs.

How might we re-design our systems to reduce the UNACCEPTABLE amount of waste we produce each year?

Check out ABC iview's new War On Waste series. Some eye-opening facts and a very informative program ->

Interested in using design to change people's lives? If so, you may like the new BBC series called 'The Big Life Fix'.

There are striking similarities between the series and the new school-led social enterprise 'Fix-ed' we launched earlier this year with Pimpama State Secondary College.

What happens when you combine Human Centred Design, Social Entrepreneurship and Repair in a high school program that aims to help disadvantaged people in the community?

We've had a blast over the last couple of weeks working with South Korean teams from KAIST IP-CEO at the Global Entrepreneurship Workshop with Griffith University. The teams have been working hard on developing their business models and using design thinking to take their ideas to the next level.

It's always a pleasure to work with such passionate people who are focussed on creating a better world. Special thanks to Beck Davis who put this together and invited us in for another successful year.
