14 years ago (roughly) I met a girl called Rachael, she was crazy and sweet…we became friends, good friends, we laughed, we joked, we had letter-books and told each other about the boys we liked and teachers we didn’t, we took photo’s, we partied together when we probably should have been studying, we had lots of fun, we left school and unfortunately we grew apart. But while we grew apart, she met Ant, they fell in love and grew together. Thankfully due to the greatness of social networking and little brothers we got back in contact. And this is how I came to photograph this amazing family today…Here’s their story…
So Yep Rach and Ant fell in love….They got married and fell pregnant with a baby boy they named Haidyn, devastatingly they lost Haidyn before he had his chance to make it into the world. Through the missing and the grief and the sadness they stayed together, loved together and another little miracle found them…
Fast forward a little while And Deklyn arrived who is such a sweet soul, he kept saying “Can I see?” each time I took a picture of him so I’d squat down and he’d put his arm around me and say “that’s awesome or that’s cool” he told me lots of stories and told me I could take him home with me. I think I made new friend.
Not long after they were blessed with Caprice. Caprice is completely beautiful! I saw her when she was just a few days old and golly gosh she has grown but is still so gorgeous!! “Can I twirl for you?” she asked as she handed me some clovers she had picked for me “Don’t loose them” she said. I still had the clovers tucked behind my ear driving home.
Then along came Storm…Master Storm is a little dude and you can tell he has the attitude of his Mumma. He was a little wary of the lady with the big camera, but a lolly pop later he was happy to oblige me a few quick snaps…just a few.
And now Ant, Rach, Dekki, Caprice and Storm are waiting for baby C due in the next 2 weeks to arrive ….
We had fun today, they were them, just as they are, I loved it!!
There in front of me today was a family – an entire, complete family.
All 7 of them.
Rach & Ant, I’m so truly honoured that you asked to take your first family portraits. I’m in awe of you guys, of your strength, courage, of the will power you seem to muster up when others of us would fold, to hold on, to keep going, to fight for your family. Rach, you are mumma that rocks, a wife cleared adored by her husband & vice versa, you are an amazing woman. I’m proud to call you my friend.
Wishing you all the very best of luck with the impending arrival of baby C.
Much Love S xox
