🌿 Reset time 🌿
As humans, we tend to look for those big moments to make life meaningful e.g. holidays, parties for birthdays, romantic dates, work successes etc.
But we forget the small moments matter too like buying a good coffee, feeling the grass beneath our feet, having a belly laugh with a loved one or friend.
We can get so caught up with goal setting and hitting milestones that our ability to "just be" is pushed to the background. It can feel just doing that is a sign of weakness.
But it's not.
Our nervous systems remember everything. Our bodies keep the receipts of our stress, tiredness and exhaustion.
As humans, it feels like we are running a race for what society expects of us. Yet we never reach the finish line because the secret is.....there isn't one. We keep aiming for it and yet we may feel like a failure for never crossing this imaginary line.
So what do we do?
This sounds so basic. But we need to relearn how to walk on our own path. We are not here to follow the "mainstream" highway of materialism, false "gurus/idols" and the rant of social media telling us we never have enough.
We need to stop and have quiet time in our lives. This can be a tricky thing to do because our nervous systems are wired. But the age of technology and social media has created a world of bright lights, loud sounds and trinkets in our minds like we are playing poker machines/pokies at a casino. We can't sit still. We can't switch our minds off. We have stopped the ability to process feelings.
It is time to make a decision about whether to remain feverishly in the rat race, or to head back to our own path which honours who we really are. 💚
