A great story can change the way we see the world.

Today, on Indigenous Literacy Day, I had the privilege of joining the team at SAP ANZ for a fireside chat on the power of stories, literacy and allyship as part of the Great Book Swap. Together, we explored how storytelling helps preserve culture, build understanding and create opportunities for future generations.

To support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, we also donated two favourite books, Deviate by Beau Lotto and The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, along with a contribution to help provide literacy resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in remote communities.

Thank you to the SAP team for the invitation, the thoughtful conversation and your support of Indigenous Literacy Day.

Because every story shared creates a ripple effect far beyond what we can see. ✨

Today is Indigenous Literacy Day 2026.

We're proud to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and celebrate a national day recognising First Nations peoples' stories, cultures and languages.

This year's theme, Country Is Our Teacher, highlights the knowledge, wisdom and learning that comes from Country and is shared through stories and language.

Literacy is about more than reading and writing. It's about culture, identity, connection and the opportunity for every child to share their story in their own voice.

Because every story matters, every language matters, and every voice deserves to be heard.

A special evening celebrating Indigenous business, connection, and community with our team and guests at the CONNECT 2026 Gala Awards Dinner in Borloo (Perth).

So wonderful to come together and celebrate the people and businesses creating meaningful impact. ✨

After the Connect 2026 Indigenous Tradeshow, rather than bringing our furniture home, we chose to donate it to Orana House, a Perth (Boorloo)-based charity providing crisis accommodation and support for women and children escaping family and domestic violence.

Several other vendors also joined in on our mission, also donating additional furniture and food items from their stands to support the organisation.

And now we're pleased to share that the furniture has been put to good use in Orana House's foyer, helping transform the space into a brighter and more welcoming environment for the women, children and families they support.

We're grateful for the opportunity to support such a deserving organisation and to see these items find a meaningful second life where they're needed most.

Supplier diversity isn’t the goal. Economic independence is.

I spoke about this recently at the Supply Nation Knowledge Forum at Connect 2026 in Perth (Boorloo), and why we need to think beyond targets, policies and procurement spend.

When we focus only on the dollar figure, we miss the bigger opportunity - building stronger businesses, more resilient supply chains, creating jobs and supporting communities for generations to come.

Strategic supplier diversity is about making it part of your organisation’s DNA, not something that sits with one person or one team.

And ultimately, it’s about moving from being an ally on the sidelines to becoming an accomplice in creating real change.

Recognising excellence, leadership, and the bright future ahead.
Elephant in the Room Consulting proudly sponsored the Outstanding Achievement by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Student award at the recent Queensland Training Awards, with our Facilitator Emma White presenting the award on the night.

Congratulations to Baylee Proctor, a proud Kaurareg man, who was recognised as the Metropolitan winner for his outstanding leadership, cultural respect, and commitment to helping his community. Through Metro North Health's Deadly Start program, Baylee has become an informal ambassador, inspiring other young people to get involved while demonstrating genuine initiative in the healthcare setting.

Baylee will now progress to the Queensland Training Awards State Gala Dinner next month, where metropolitan and regional winners will compete for the state title.

We also congratulate finalists Amira Ahmat and Lachlan Brown, whose dedication to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is equally inspiring.

At EITRC, we're incredibly proud to support and celebrate the next generation of First Nations leaders, creating pathways for stronger communities and brighter futures. ✨
