PROUD MEMBER HIGHLIGHT | Green Side Up Landscapes

Landscape Queensland Proud Member Green Side Up Landscapes delivered this residential landscape transformation at Bridgeman Downs, combining structural landscaping, custom features and carefully considered planting to create a cohesive outdoor environment.

The project involved extensive site preparation, excavation, drainage and retaining works, alongside the construction of Millboard decking and boardwalks, sandstone boulder retaining walls, decorative pathways, garden beds and premium turf areas. Thoughtfully selected coastal-inspired planting, feature stone, steel edging and custom landscape elements completed the design, bringing texture, depth and visual interest throughout the property.

From the terraced front entry statement through to the connected outdoor living spaces at the rear, the project showcases the breadth of expertise required to deliver high-quality residential landscape construction.

Projects like this demonstrate how professional landscape contractors can transform a property into a functional, inviting and enduring outdoor space - connecting architecture, functionality and lifestyle.

To women and allies in the landscape industry, we want to hear your voice.

As part of our Women in Landscaping program, Landscape Queensland is developing a Women in Landscape Construction initiative: skills, mentoring, career pathways and support, shaped by the women who actually work in this industry.

Whether you're on the tools, running the show, just starting out or decades in, your experience matters, and it goes straight into what we build and the funding behind it.

It takes a few minutes. It can be anonymous. And your voice adds to a bigger picture that benefits the whole industry.

Be part of the solution by opening up the conversation about mental health.

Today isn’t the only day to ask “R U OK?” - but it’s an important reminder to pause and check in with your mates.

Taking a moment to genuinely ask how someone is really doing can make a world of difference. We all have mental health, and sometimes simply opening the door to a conversation is the first step toward changing a life.

LQ members, check your inbox for tips, tools and support to help you look out for your mates.

Thank you to the team at ruokanyday for the awareness and support tools available via ruok.org.au

LQ EDUCATION PROGRAM | BUILDING THRIVING LANDSCAPES FROM GROUND UP: THE ROLE OF SOIL HEALTH

As part of the LQ Education Program at the recent Greenscapes Expo, Peter Farquharson, Director of Plant of Health, presented this session, bringing the focus back to where every successful landscape begins — the soil beneath our feet.

Peter explored the relationship between soil biology, chemistry and physical structure, and how each can influence plant establishment, growth, resilience and long-term performance.

For landscape contractors, designers and maintenance professionals, the session provided practical insights into assessing and improving soil health, reducing preventable plant failures and creating landscapes that continue to perform well beyond installation.

The key message was a simple but important one: better soil management supports stronger plants, reduced maintenance, happier clients and better landscape outcomes.

Thank you to Peter for sharing his knowledge and practical insights with our industry.

LQ is proud to bring members an Education Program focused on the topics that matter to our industry — combining practical knowledge with insights that can be taken straight back into the workplace.

LQ EDUCATION PROGRAM | HOW TO RUN A LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION OR MAINTENANCE BUSINESS IN MORE CHALLENGING TIMES - AND PROSPER!

Presented by John Corban, The Landscapers Coach, this session was all about the business behind landscaping and the practical strategies that can help landscape construction and maintenance businesses continue to perform when conditions get tougher.

Drawing on his experience coaching landscape businesses, John shared what he is seeing work across the industry to grow sales and profitability, retain good people, build stronger team cultures and attract new team members. From leadership, money and quoting to project management, sales, marketing and team, the session covered the key areas business owners need to keep an eye on — with plenty of practical tips, strategies and reminders of what they may already be doing well.

Thank you to John for sharing his experience, insights and practical advice with our members.

PROUD MEMBER HIGHLIGHT | Evolve Environmental Solutions
From a degraded stormwater corridor to a functioning wetland and thriving habitat — the Providence Southern Wetlands project demonstrates the scale and skill behind environmental landscape construction.

Landscape Queensland Proud Member Evolve Environmental Solutions delivered extensive rehabilitation works across the site, including more than 172,000 native plants, 400 semi-advanced trees, 11,500m² of coir mesh, 2,250m³ of forest mulch and 150 fauna habitat zones.

Working around live waterways and constructed sediment basins, the team combined erosion control, wetland and riparian planting and habitat construction, while coordinating with civil and stormwater works. Significant rainfall and flash flooding added to the challenge, requiring damaged batters to be reworked and erosion controls reinstated as conditions changed.

What was delivered is a landscape designed to do much more than look good. Benefits extended to improving water quality, supporting biodiversity and creating valuable green space within the growing Ripley Valley community.

Evolve Environmental Solutions have crafted a great example of the important role LQ Members play in constructing and restoring Queensland’s natural environments.
