The SIL Practice Standards aren't "coming" anymore — they've been in effect since 1 July. And if you deliver SIL, the bar you're audited against just moved. ⬆️

Swipe through for the plain-English version: SIL is now its own registration group (0138), with four new standards layered on top of the Core Module 👉

Here's what the SIL reforms mean for you. ✅

Good news first: you don't need to lodge a fresh application. The Commission automatically varies your registration to add the new SIL group (0138) so your registration itself is sorted.

The catch: you're assessed against the new SIL module at your next audit, and the new standards apply now, not on audit day. So the work isn't paperwork for registration it's making sure your practice actually meets the four new standards before an auditor comes looking.

That's the gap we help 0115 providers close: reviewing your systems against the new module, spotting what won't hold up, and getting you genuinely ready well ahead of your renewal.

A lot of SIL providers treat registration as a finish line: get audited, get the certificate, move on. But now that registration is mandatory, compliance is a living thing, not a one-time event.

The providers who stay out of trouble are the ones whose policies, worker screening, and incident systems are actually used week to week not dusted off the night before an audit.

On 1 July 2026, the new NDIS Pricing Schedule came into effect and this year it's a bigger shift than the usual annual update. Psychology rates went up, dietetics and exercise physiology came down, and therapy billing has been restructured into six separate line items per discipline: direct service, travel, non-face-to-face, cancellations, reports, and telehealth. The old PAPL claiming rules have been replaced with a new item-code structure, which means service agreements need updating and claims submitted under the old codes can be rejected.

It's official — SIL mandatory registration starts today. 📋

From 1 July 2026, Supported Independent Living providers fall under mandatory NDIS registration. The transition has officially begun.

Here's what that means: you don't need to be fully registered today, but the clock has started — and staying in the NDIS market means taking action during the transition period.

The real pressure isn't the date. It's the audit queue. Certification takes months, and every SIL provider is booking from the same limited pool of approved auditors. The providers who move early are the ones who move smoothly.

Last week, UC Compliance was pleased to take part in a joint live webinar on the new Supported Independent Living (SIL) Standards, alongside Belinda Llamas and Sharon Floyd.

The session brought together valuable insights and practical guidance on what the upcoming changes mean for providers, including the new SIL Practice Standards, registration requirements, transition pathways, audit expectations and preparation strategies.
