Retirement Community or Aged Care Home? The distinction can be super confusing.

No wonder many people are unsure... 🤔

Many people think it’s the same thing but slowly through awareness people are starting to understand.

Aged Care Homes provide 24/7 round the clock care similar to a hospital. Residents usually reside in a room with a bathroom.

Retirement Communities offer a much more independent way to live and residents can draw in services as they need.

What is the entry age for retirement communities?

It can vary a lot! From over 50’s to over 70…..

You can find the entry age in the Village Comparison Document… it’s also normally clearly listed on the retirement communities website.

The average age of people moving into a Queensland Retirement Community is 80.

This lovely ladies moving journey had quite a few hiccups! Moving from her beautiful home to a retirement community took some time and team work that for sure!!! 🧍🏼🧍🏼‍♀️🧍🏽‍♂️🧍🏼‍♀️

All finally settled into her new home. She said a big loving goodbye to her house that was filled with cherished memories! ❤️🏠

She kindly gifted me this original artwork of the Tumbulgum ferry when it was still running! A stunning piece of history and very close to my heart as we are renovating a house down there. I love it so much!!!!! 🥹❤️

The first day I met this lovely lady, I gave her a big hug and said my famous catch phrase “EVERYTHING ALWAYS WORKS OUT” and do you know what, it did. 🙂

Gosh trying to feel normal again after the last week’s weather events! 🥴😮‍💨😮‍💨 Thinking of everyone that has been impacted. 💙🙏🏻

When events like chaotic weather puts everyone in a spin it’s the community connection that’s stands out and how long the lines at the bottle shops get 🤣 🍻

QRL was invited last week to tour the TriCare Ashgrove Aged Care Residences.

Leading the tour was Karen who we have worked with in the past! Was great to see her again. Karen lead the tour and guided us through the common areas, resident rooms and then up to the top to see the upcoming retirement units. Impressed is an understatement.

Always great to chat to people on the tour working in all different parts of the industry. One thing we agreed on is how cool the rooftop area was.

Aged care is hard, it can be heartbreaking having a loved one end up there. My Dad lived in one for years before he passed away. When I left this place I couldn’t stop thinking it had so many positive qualities that didn’t make it feel like an aged care home and just how some of the kindest souls work in this industry. 👼🏼

Looking forward to taking clients back when the retirement units are ready to rock and roll! 💙💫
