Through the Planning Amendment Regulation 2025, provisions for is now extended for a further 12 months, until 2 December 2026.

📣This latest update is intended to support facilitation of Rooming Accommodation, Rural Workers’ Accommodation, Community Residences and Build-to-Rent Housing, making it easier to build and manage different types of housing.

The temporary provisions for Rooming Accommodation under Schedule 6 of the Planning Regulation is set to expire on 2 December 2025.

Following the conclusion of the temporary provisions, the category of assessment for new Rooming Accommodation developments will revert to the relevant local government planning provisions.

👉Provisions will be introduced for projects already approved but not yet issued an occupancy certificate.
👉Completed and operational Rooming Accommodation developments will retain their use rights.
👉New Rooming Accommodation development applications after 2 December 2025 will need to follow relevant local planning scheme.
