🍷 40th Annual Qld Wine Awards Presentation Dinner 2024 🍷

In its 40th year, the Awards is a celebration of our industry - recognising excellence in wine making and the contributions made by persons and businesses in progressing our industry.

As a guest, you can enjoy sampling the award winning wines, meet the wine makers, chat to other wine lovers, and be the first to know which are the champion wines. Start with a glass of Queensland Sparkling, while we meet and mingle before a three course dinner, served with a selection of the show wines.

The Queensland Wine Awards Presentation Dinner is on Thursday 21 September 2023 and the Public Tasting and Masterclass on Friday 22 September. By attending the Public Tasting Event, you can enjoy sampling the award-winning wines and charcuterie stations, meet the wine makers and chat to other wine lovers.

Did you know that Queensland has some of the highest altitude vineyards in Australia? 🧐☝

After the New England Region of NSW (with altitudes up to 1320 metres) Orange region (with some locations sitting around 1100 metres) the Granite Belt lines up behind Orange as the next highest well known wine region with altitudes ranging in the 900’s and up to 1000 metres! 🍇

There are well established examples of wine regions with high altitude, arid rocky soil and four very distinct annual seasons – the northern high plains of Spain, the northern Rhone Region & Priorat (near Barcelona).

These regions are renowned for varieties that thrive on a hot and cold arid climate – Syrah/Shiraz, Viognier, Marsanne, Tempranillo, Verdejo, Mencia - the alternative varieties you will find grown and made in Queensland wine regions.

There's so much more to explore and to learn about the wonderful Queensland wine world. Come along to the public tasting and masterclass on Feb 24th in Brisbane.
