Just a quick post to let you know we are closed for tomorrow's Ekka Show holiday but will reopen for business as usual on Thursday 15th August from 7.30am till 4.30pm.
In the meantime, here are a couple of fun facts to entertain you while you wait to be warmly welcomed back into our store on Thursday! 😊
Did you know that......At the very first EKKA Show (then called the Intercolonial Exhibition) in 1876, there was just one showbag - a bag of coal! (Our fav is still the Bertie Beatle but wish they'd also bring back the Sunnyboy Showbag 🥲).

There is no food more symbolic of the Ekka than the world-famous Strawberry Sundae! It was introduced to the Ekka in 1950 when Peter’s Ice Cream Company decided to combine their strawberry ice cream with freshly cut local strawberries and lashings of whipped cream in a waffle cone. There are approx. 152,000 sold every year (that’s 10 tonnes of fresh local strawberries!) and, if we did need another reason to not skip dessert – the profits from every Sundae sold have gone directly to the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation (PCHF) since 1989. 😋🍦🍓
